would it be a hard job to take to a shop and have them install? How much in labor would it be to put on the new one?

 

I doubt if a dealer would do it (unless it were Grubbs). For a shop it would be a piece of cake. The instructions are detaled in PDF format at the Crawford site, a shop could estimate the time from that. Probably 1 to 2 hours of shop time.

 

I just installed my Borla Exhaust today guys, it was a BEEETCH to install!

I recommend that you do it with access to a lift. It took about 4 hours to install altogether. Im having length problems associated with the hangers, it seems like my pipes are 1/2" too long overall. I'll call Borla RE this on monday.

Ah yes, the sound, just beautiful MAN!!!!!!!!!! i love it. What bang for the buck too, i can feel the extra few horsies. I'd say +10hp from my butt dyno.
The sound if very, very deep and sounds throaty at higher rev's. props to Borla for making an overall great system (besides the crappy/typical american quality control...i.e. pipes being 1/2" too long)

Yeah we installed it correctly bro, one pipe under the strut bar, one pipe over, aligned everything, snug fit, just the hangers are 1/2" off, i mean, the muffler is still hung fine, but if only the pipes were 1/2" shorter between the premuff and rear muff then it would align perfectly.
By the way, the tailpipes stick out just enough to show BORLA on them. so perhaps when borla welded on the hangers, it was off 1/2"

here is a pic of my right side rear hanger, as you can see, its about 1/2" off target, but the whole exhaust sits rock solid.

I would love to hear how it sounds with test pipes in place. I know they made my stock car sound deeper and added a nice growl over 3k. I also suspect the free flowing Borla coupled with the free flowing test pipes might have a synergestic effect on power. I know when I was doing my test pipes, I noticed this car was designed with dual exhaust in mind. the clearence is under there exactly for it. Grrr. I have to either get a Borla, or Fab something and see how it works with my test pipes.

The RX has left the building, I have been driving the G for about 6 weeks!!!!

 

Your Borla is a great addition to insure you are getting all the performance out of your other bolt on's. Borla has a great reputation for performance. Let us know how it sounds a month from now after it has been "seasoned". You will hear a difference. I have cars where I used Flowmasters and Borla. In both cases the cars sounded better after about 4 weeks of driving.

I've had the Borla for awhile now...maybe 2 months. Sound does seem to liven up after about 500 miles. Nothing drastic but it's noticeable. Does it sound better? IMO I think it sounds good... a bit deeper and a lil more throaty (maybe a btit louder but unsure). Sorry if these little observations may be a bit off as I had headers and a CAI installed shortly after the exhaust install.

 

RamboRam: your picture helped me to know what to look for when the G35c was still up on the rack after my Borla install today. Was it worth the one month wait. YES, that sound really tells your highway neighbors you've got some muscle under the hood. While the stock muffler did have a good sound, it was over a very narrow RPM band. The Borla seems to sing over a much broader RPM band. I thought I was getting low MPG before this install, bet it really goes down now with the strong temptation to WOT it all too often to hear the woomph!

for all those with the borla, gsedanman, rambo, mano and others. Once again i dont know if i'm being paranoid or what but the car seems hotter than usual. the centre console seems warmer to touch after a long period of driving and today after coming home, 45 mins of regular driving on a hot day, i was getting something out of the trunk and i brushed the rear bumper and man it seemed to be really hot.
Keep an eye on it fellas and let me know if there its anything to be concerned about.

I don't have my borla installed yet (Just got it in the mail today!) but one thing I noticed was while driving home last night. Probably like 40 minutes in the car, windows down and sunroof open, the little cup holder in teh center console was probably like 15º hotter and MUCH more humid than the rest of the car. It was just strange.

Anyway I'll have my borla installed on friday, and will have some SOUND CLIPS of before/after. Until then...
