No, not yet. I'm debating it though. Very curious here.

I'll cut a 3" by 3/16" sliver off the engine cover to cure the mat rubbing problem before I'd ever think about removing the mat itself. Frankly I'm thinking of only installing the engine cover for trips to the dealer [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

im definately buying this thing, i just do not like the idea of sending them my old one? wtf is up with that... wat is somewhere down the road we find there is an issue with this modification and need our old ones back?

 

I don't understand what's blocking the engine cover?

Then don't send them the old one. When you order the new pleneum Doug ask's you if you'll be sending them back your old pleneum. Just tell him no. This of course will cost you $200 more to keep it. Thing is, I had the same concern's as you. So I pinned Doug down. I asked him, "hey, what if I get in a situation where your pleneum is a problem and I suddenly need my old pleuneum to reinstall?" "Can I buy a original pleneum off you for $200?" His reply was absolutely, just to call him and explain the need and he will sell you a original pleneum for the same $200.

BTW, just for the heck of it I priced the stock Z pleneum at my local Nissan dealer, $257. I don't know what a G35 pleneum sells for at a Infiniti dealer, but I'm sure it's higher than the same Nissan part for the Z.

The intake pleneum is what your black plastic engine cover is covering up. It's also what your throttle body bolts up to. It route's the incomming air into what looks like a stack of short pipes. Least that's what I gather from looking at a parts diagram at the dealer. Here's a picture of my Crawford intake pleneum without the factory engine cover. You can plainly see how Crawford modifies the stock pleneum.

When you do get the dyno numbers, please do post them. I have to work on getting $550 first.

 

I know its ugly, but cant you just take the engine cover off and drive without it? will the car overheat or somethign stupid like that? besides having a nicer looking engine bay, does the cover do anything? boy oh boy is that plenum ugly. not even my grouding kit and intake can redeem it. ugh
