High flow cats, whats on the inside?
I was thinking (usually something bad occurs when this happens lol), and I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the inners of a high flow cat like the Crawfords actually looks like? I mean wouldnt anyone who has decent skill in welding and fabrication be able to open the stock cats and modify the inside to mimick how some of the "high flow" cats work? I mean the "pellet" type design of the stock cats is already a good design, its just the inside thats restrictive, right? I dunno, Im talkin crazy talk lol...

i did this about the same time I installed my supercharger.
about 1 week before the ATI was insatlled, I don't think that there was any noticable difference N/A-wise. But I'm sure it's helping supercharger-wise.
PS: I actually bought a used pair on this forum & gutted those. I still have my originals in case I ever sell my car. Which should be NEVER.

Keep in mind the materials used for cats is serious ISH!!! There is a reason why it is against the law to change them if they are not bad etc etc.
By no means do you wanna breathe that crap in if you decide to gut them. I never compared my crawfords to the OEM but I would assume that higher flow cats have a larger honeycomb vs stock. The smaller the honeycomb, the more surface area, the more they filter. In theory anyway!
