Headers - yes, the dyno curve is one of the better ones, but when you factor in the cost and difficulty of the install, a few extra hp really doesn't transition into that much........

Plenum - less power, more hassle, more cost than an iso-thermal MD package

Cats - more expensive, similar benefits to something 150cheaper like kinetix (although last year I'd agree that kinetix falls short because of fitment issues, but they've been addressed and fixed with the latest line-up, so.....)

i got my crawford plenum for $225 and it was barely used....besides the performance, i like the way it looks as well. the only thing that i noticed is that when my car is idle, every 20 seconds or so there is a little change in rpm's and a little rumble...do you know what that might be from? or how to fix?

 

see, should have gone with a brand new MD plenum package - no random idle surges here ^_^ (do you have any vaccuum leaks, that would be the most liekly cause with plenum stuff)

Yo, I have the MREV and I have the same problem, is this supposed to be normal?

 

You all should do full ECU resets - as shown on the TS website. Make sure you do the throttle and other position resets as well...I put the 1/2" spacer on and had that issue - afte resets, all gone - been 4 months now...

 

I have the Crawford plenum and Crawford high-flow cats on my '04- pleased as punch with the gains here! No problems either. Plenum looks great too.

 

Headers - Maybe they only prove to be slightly more powerful, but they are hand made and quality pieces! They aren't run of the mill pieces that will crack and fall apart after a year or two. You pay a little extra for quality and the amount of time that went into the R&D.

PLENUM - BEST MOD OUT THERE IMO - Many guys have used the spacer, but IMHO, by using a spacer, you are now introducing 2 places where you can get a leak vs just on like stock. Not to mention it looks way nicer.

Cats - Yeah, go buy Kinetix and see how long they last. We'll see how far the savings go when they collapse in a year or 2. That $150 you saved will go a long way when you have to fork over another 400 or so for a new pair!

The biggest reason many peopple prefer Crawford products is that besides themn working, the have the BEST customer service! There si nothing better then being able to talk to the owner of a company should you have any questions! To me, that is well worth the few dollars more for their products! It's always nice to know that they still want to make you happy even after they received your payment which is more that what I can say about other companies!

THe only 2 products I've read complaints about in 3yrs are the grupee-S y-pipe (constant cracking w/ it) and Megan racing stuff

I've NEVER read anybody having their, for example, kinetix cats, even the older ones that had issues w/ them, break and fall appart after a year.......that's like those people who commented saying 'if you buy test pipes and somebody's smoking next to your car, they can catch on fire!!!!!'

Headers: I didn't go with Crawford because I also felt the slight advantage wasn't worth the added install hassle. I went with the NISMO, so there really wasn't much cost or quality difference to factor in. Also thought I'd get less grief from Infiniti (possible future warranty issues) for a NISMO item.

Cats: Initially, my first stop was Random Technologies, but they didn't have anything. In fact, hardly anyone did. Once RT had something available, then came the bad reviews of them. I recall seeing bad reviews of another brand as well. When it comes to high-flow cats, a quality aftermarket piece has to be available for me to even consider them. As time went on, it was clear that the Crawford cats were the best choice when considering flow and quality construction that lasts. Show me a better option with as good of a G-specific track record and I'd consider ita viable option... ...if I didn't already have my (Crawford) cats waiting for install.

Plenum: I was considering a spacer instead of the plenum until they showed lackluster results for the '05+ 6MT. When the Motordyne MREV was released, I decided it would suit my needs better than a plenum, so I've got the MREV Plus Copper ISO Thermal waiting for install.

Not only was Crawford early to the game, they were one of the few companies that consistantly offered quality parts that delivered by increasing performance. It's because of this that they earned the justified reputation they enjoy around here. Fair is fair, simply put.

Frankly, even though I might not opt for every item they offer for the G, I still consider them one of the G specialists offering tried-and-true aftermarket parts.

early crawford's had fitment issues, as did kinetix. both are fixed now. I havn't read any negative comments about kinetix cats on here (aside from the fitment issues, but like I said, those are non-existant now) so I went with them ^_^

 

The Crawford cats' "fitment problem" was really just a heat-shield that needed to be bent out of the way. It wasn't anything significant like the insides breaking apart (can't recall which manufacturer that was), so I still consider Crawford to have a good track-record with their cats. While other companies may have recently started to (or may be getting ready to) offer redesigns of their cats, and yet others are entering the market with their first offering, the Crawfords still have the leading track-record for these pieces on a G.

As I stated, cats aren't really the place to cut corners for me. As a matter of fact, I shy away from cutting corners, trying unproven mods (or manufacturers) and otherwise compromising the parts I choose by placing cost as the highest priority. That doesn't mean that I only buy the most expensive parts, just that I try to buy the best parts available. Those two things do, however, go hand-in-hand a lot of the time.
