Phresh DYNO on my Coupe by K & N ...... 12.27.200
Re: Phresh DYNO on my Coupe by K & N ...... 12.27
socalmmr, you've been hyping that K&N filter *forever* - I know you feel special because your car was chosen for them to test it, and it's cool that you all know something we don't, but there's no need to mention it in every single one of your posts.
I certainly hope it lives up to (your) hype, that can only be a "good thing" for all G35 owners, but until then....

Well, I in no way feel special. The only reason I refernce it, is because new people often do not go back & re-read an entire thread, then I get personal messages asking me questions about things, which is much easier to deal with up front than on the back end... So I am very sorry if you feel awkward about it, but it really just keeps things simple for me.

Air Intake Article
Some guy on FA posted this link re air intakes. An interesting read and makes you wonder about the potential gains of a CAI over the stock box in the G.

Re: Air Intake Article
Geez that guy must have been reading my mind! When I first looked at my G35 coupe, I saw the intake and said "Damn, this car has a factory ram-air CAI!" All it needed was a K&N filter to make it breathe better. Personally, I will suprised if another companies' intake is that much better.
Re: Air Intake Article
Yeah, now I'm REALLY interested in some dyno results once the various CAIs come out and are mounted in some of the Gs. If only good for 2-3 HP over stock or even the K&N drop-in, is it worth the several hundred premium? We'll see.

Re: Air Intake Article
It makes me think that anything more than the K&N drop-in is a waste of money on this engine, unless you're going for major mods to all aspects of the engine.

Re: Air Intake Article
At least with the K&N drop-in, it's cleanable and should save money over replacing stock Nissan filters. My thinking is, it might be the 'best bang for the buck'.

Re: Air Intake Article
I had a Ford Powerstroke before the G. Most people with these do not run K&N's becuase they simply do not filter as well as high quality paper elements. Also, the quantity of oil placed on the filter is subjective and can be too little in some areas and too much in others. I tried a K&N to see how the air would flow and found that the K&N flowed as much as a Ford filter (PSI gauge for turbo - tested without a filter, tested with the stock, tested with performance filter, and tested with the K&N).
