*PIX* Pro 1 Performance cat back exhaust for coupe

I'm about to install this on my car tomorrow. Snapped a few pics of it just now. Yes it looks just like the RS*R, but it has different silencers.

Extension piece....

The exhaust is actually for the 350Z, but this extension pipe makes it fit our coupes.

Retail price is set at $795. I'll take a vid clip or sound clip of it after I install it.

Mufflers are mufflers...doesn't matter if the tip is attached or if the tips branch off like stock muffler. The piping has a resonator, and each muffler has a detachable silencer. So if it sounds like ish, then I'll just pop the silencers back in.

Re: *PIX* Pro 1 Performance cat back exhaust for coupe

Are you getting this exhaust for the sound(or looks)???

Because I dont see how that exhaust is going to help in the power department. It has a single pipe that does not seem very large in diameter that splits into the 2 mufflers. It seems like it is more restrictive than the stock exhaust.

For that amount of money, I would expect a dual setup rather then the single down pipe.

Oh well, to each his own.

The stock piping is about 2.25 inches in diameter. The Pro 1 is 3" in diameter. Trust me this thing is NOT restrictive. I just finished installing it, and the thing accelerates quicker than before. Seat of the pants is noticeable. I've sold, installed, and tuned performance parts for imports at my last job I held for two years. We had an in-house Dynojet 248C, and I'll probably head back there soon to get some dyno numbers.

Here's the vid clip of it

My review

Impressions:

1. Fitment was very good. Everything bolted up just fine w/o any problems. The nuts holding the mid-pipe to the Y-pipe are a bit tough to get off, but nothing a little force couldn't fix. They probably would have come off a lot easier if I soaked them with WD-40. Other than that everything was a breeze. Install took about an hour with hand tools.

2. Sound is what I expected from something of this design. Very mean growl upon start up, and blipping the throttle gives a good throaty roar. High revs while parked gave a bit of tinny rattle. I attribute this to either the heat shield above the stock exhaust or the silencers. I'll have to get under there and check tomorrow. I'll probably leave the silencers in because it's already a bit loud for me. I can't imagine how loud it would be without the silencers, but I'll try tomorrow just to see.

3. Looks pretty good IMHO. The mufflers are tig welded and highly polished. Tips are nicely centered into each cutout of the rear bumper.

4. Stock exhaust probably weighs at least 30lbs more than this one.

The canister looks like its too short, the tip should stick out more so u wont get those black smokes on ur bumper.

Re: My review

I only have the vid clip of it linked on the first page of this post.

As far as the canisters being too short, there really isnt' much room to work with under there. The tips could have been extended a bit, but the manufacturers chose to use those tips. Unless I'm running extremely rich, I'm not going to worry about black soot accumulating. I wash the car weekly, and dirt won't become a problem.
