Any coupes w/ stock catback and headers+h-f cats?
I have to reach a decission soon - I've got some kinetix cats, topspeed headers and invidia g200 - i picked up the g200 VERY cheap, and my friend is interested in it, so i could make a ~300-400 profit on it.
I really like the stock exhaust tone, but would headers and h-f cats by themselves be enough to really deepen it and louden it (while keeping the same exhaust note)?
I was pretty impressed how louder/deeper it got when I did the plenum mods and intake, so I'm thinking that stock catback with h+h-f cats should louden it a bit; yet I don't know, because I"ve read some posts where people w/ just cats or just headers said the note didn't change that much.
Yea, yea, I probably should just get something like the rs*r or pro-1 exhaust if I want loud, but I want to keep my hearing intact

I think you'll be happy with just the cats and headers - thats all I have right now and everyone asks me what I did to my car (in a good way). Not too loud like some of the exhausts, but louder and raspier than the stock alone. I can feel more pick up over 3k rpms. I am throwing on a plenum and stillen air box this weekend, shoot me a pm next week and I'll let you know how it sounds with everything on.
How much louder would you say? I'm just curious because I know some people think that adding a k&n alone makes the engine louder......if they strain their ears.....a lot......and there's dead silence.

Easily noticable, without sounding like a riced out civic. I HATE that sound, and really like the louder, raspier sound I got from the cats (and headers). My gf notices, and when it comes to the car she doesnt notice it unless theres a real difference.

I wouldn't do it, Stock exhaust is louder than just about any car stock. But when you compair it to aftermarket phew...
I liked my stock note with my highflow cats, but when I put my Injen SES on, all bets were off... I'm never going back to stock exhaust (tho I wish I got more preformence out of it)

id prob keep the invidia..........it really depends on what your next mod is if you need that extra money or not

-not interested in going f/i or stroked
-not interested in cosmetic/suspension stuff (most interest is sway bars and my p275 firehawks)
-have pretty much all the n/a engine/exhaust/etc... mods except for utec, which I may get just for the hell of it
I'm just kinda on the 50/50 waffle fence right now because a) I can take a profit from it b) I really do enjoy the stock note moreso than most video clips of exhausts I see posted. So it's more a question of do I want to change my exhaust note or not.
I have Stillen cat back and Crawford high-flows (soon will be getting Crawford's headers too). The sound is nice, but definitely LOUD when pressed (BTW, I also have an AEM CAI and a Crawford Plenum).
just as an FYI, i was running headers, cats, and Y-pipe on my stock exhaust. it sounded great, but my muffler developed a rattle right when you gave the car WOT...
i was told it had something to do with the components upstream flowing too much for the packing in the stock muffler and making some of it loosen up... i don't know how true this is, but i'm just repeating the explanation i was given about my own setup

yea that's why i'm not saying it's a definite fact, but just repeating what i was told. my muffler (not the exhaust piping, the muffler itself) used to rattle, and that was the only explanation is was given that seemed plausable. as i said, take it for what it was worth
