Nismo intake

sup,i installed this intake about a couple of weeks ago..not impressed with it.it gives it a little hissing noise between 3-4k rpm.cant tell if i got any power gains..maybe in the top-end..it gave my stock exhaust a deeper tone.

Anyways, last night was the first night that it rained hard and i was so scared of water getting my intake..i was avoiding puddles and driving slow. The intake comes with a "water Drivtar" to pervent water from getting in,but i was scared to test it out.

Does anybody have this intake?Have u had any problems with water getting inside the engine?Do i need to buy a bypass valve?I was even thinking of changing it from CAI to a short-ram.Thanks

If you plan on selling the NISMO CAI and it's in great shape, I'll take it off your hands if you want to switch to short ram

I just got mine on a month ago. No problems whatsoever. I actually checked the filter when I was doing my clear corners. Still fresh. Plus it makes the car sound much more jacked at higher RPMs. I kinda like the whistle cause it kinda sounds like a turbo.

the water diverter things on CAI's doesn't help you gain more power, it really makes no difference from a short ram intake... they are suppose to work well tho.

did you consider the Jim Wolf Pop Charger? I have that on my car, so far so good I get a fair amount of rain in my area, and no problem at all with the short ram.

for the Nismo, you can convert it from a full cai to a short-ram configuration?

why spend all the money converting to short RAM?

z-TUBE it and put in the K&N Filter...or go Stillen CAI - spending 2x the money to get the same thing. So many people spend 2x the money without planning better.

sorry...

Another reason why i would consider changing it to short-ram is the throttle responce.after change it to CAI my throttle responce sucks compared to the stock intake box.

i think this week i will change to short-ram and test the difference between them.If i like the short-ram then i dont have to worry about water getting into the engine

Below is some pics of what it will look like when converted to short ram but its not like Injen it will play inside the engine bay unless you mount it in a good place like the 3rd pic, or use a cable tie and mount it with anything in the engine so it wont move while you do hard corners

the only good thing in the bypass valve is for the people whom don't like the noise coming from the CAI it will be totally reduced, its not 100% protection so i see there`s no need for it.

one more thing no more scary VQ at 5K RPM the sound will be reduced 30-40% it will still keep the tone of the exhaust deep but not noticeable like when its in CAI setup.

Can`t wait to put it back to CAI again in First-Mid April i miss the CAI sound
