Test pipe question.

Ive done a search already, but im still kind of in the dark. how many of you are running test pipes? please respond with what brand/resonated or not and most importantly.. did the check engine light come on, or what you had to do to fix the light.

Thanks, Gunner

I have the Kinetix resonated with the 1st gen Stillen sedan exhaust. The Kinetix will still rasp and will throw a light even though they say it wont. Basically, expect all the testpipes to have some rasp and expect a light. What is the fix? What I did was to wrap the pipes with thermal header wrap to dampen the "ringing" of the pipe wall. Thats basically what the rasp is. The light can be prevented by using the HELP #42002 spark-plug no foulers between the pipes and the O2 sensor. Do a search for that and how to do it.

And yes, the power gains are real. Especially when combined with a good catback. Even more dramatic with forced induction. Some guys see 20-30 HP gains on turbo cars. N/A probably around 4-7HP.

Just dont get caught. $2500 fine I think. One of the best reasons to get the resonated type. They actually look kinda like a cat and you have a chance to explain it away. With a straight pipe, no chance.

You can't beat the LaBree products and craftmanship - however the LaBree people left and now have their own shop - Fast Intentions - that's where to go!

Ask for Tony or Danny - they used to be at LaBree and made it what it was.

Tell them Rick sent you....

I always thought NA cars needed a little back pressure, so running catless will not loose power?

I just bought thier testpipes. I received excellent service from them, I would not hesitate to do business with them again.
