I just got my car back from the dealer today for an oil change and finally installed my z-tube after waiting a week. But, I asked a few different service managers about it and they said it would void my warranty to install the Z-tube even though its a Nissan part. Do you guys remove the Z-tube and replace the G-tube when you take your car in for normal service? Sounds like a pain to do every 3500 miles..

That definitely doesn't sound right. The Z-tube is even offered for the G on www.courtesynissan.com as an accessory! You can:

1) Go to another dealer, some are more "mod-friendly" than others
2) Change your own oil
3) Have a local shop change the oil

i hate how dealers try to scare people like this. my dealership (frontier in norcal) said an intake would void my engine warranty. can you believe that??

as others have experienced (the hard way), if your dealership feels that way and you get into a warranty situation, the onus is on nissan/infiniti to prove that your aftermarket part caused damage that should be exempt from the warranty. this process can be pretty drawn out tho.

They said it would void the warranty which makes me mad. Correct me if Im wrong, but the 350Z uses the same exact engine as the G so whats the big deal? The only difference between the two intake tubes is the extra resonator on the G-tube. Plus, the Z-tube is better overall. More power, better gas mileage...wtf?

Also, its up to the dealer whether or not they wish to grant you your warranty or not after you install an aftermarket part. Unfortunately, they have final say.

Dealers must still follow the law. To void your warranry b/c of a modification they have to prove that the modification caused the damage complained of. Further, The z-tube is like one of the lighest mod's you can do--oem part. Sounds like u have a dealer that is crap..Go to another.

My dealer is very mod-friendly and even installd stillen parts--service manager told me none of that would void warrranty. Really it depends on the dealer. I recommend finding a better dealer that is more mod friendly.

I doubt they will even notice that you have a Z-tube. If you end up having a problem, you could always swap it before going in.

EDIT: P Diddy. I thought/think the same, they wont even notice, but there is a big gap where the top part of the G-tube should be. Also, I can just replace it if something were to go wrong. I just wanted input from others to see what you guys do

i don't think this is true. i think infiniti consumer affairs does... someone who's dealt with them will hopefully chime in here

So I should give Infiniti CA's a call and ask them?

this dealership is retarted.......you have to prove that your mod caused the problem in order to void your warranty...........your fine, jst go to another dealership

they are saying it will void warranty because it changes the dynamics of how your car operates... they designed the car to work on the parts it has on and they warranty that it will work within those parameters, adding performance parts changes the parameters of how the car runs (no matter how small of a change) so thats there excuse for telling u that it will void warranty, but unless they can prove the z tube caused any damage then dont worry about it... i can only see a warranty problem with an intake if u hydrolock ur motor, and tahts only if its a cai that goes under the bumper
