I looked through the message boards and read that I could expect a slight whistle noise after installing a pop charger and z tube, but mine sounds weird.

It is almost like a clicking noise where if I tap the gas pedal slightly and hear the click/slight whistle, it doesn't sound like a sucking type whistle though. It is around 2400 RPM or so.

Is this the normal whistle or something with the throttle body?

the clicking I have not heard of berfore this. The whistle is to be expected and some would desribe it as normal but to me it is anything but normal. But that is because I do nothink cars should whistle, honk yes, whistle no

were you able to acount for all of your tools after the install? Maybe some FOD was left behind. Did you reset the ecu? If not does it sound like engine knock or ping?

i would try taking it all apart and putting it back on, making sure everything is tight and snug. i just installed my popcharger last week and haven't had any problems....good luck and welcome!

 

Thanks guys. The noise/whistle almost sounds like brakes that are squeeling slightly or something. I'm not sure if I like the sound.

I watched a mechanic put it in and saw that everything was good and snug.

What should the whistle sound like? Anyone else have it sound like bad brakes?

I have heard many people say they think the Popcharger noise is annoying. They said that although some people say it sounds like a turbo spooling, that they think it sounds more like bad brakes.

 

i have been wondering what caused that squealing sound whenver i start
to accelerate. So it is normal to have that sound?

turbo spooling sounds more like it. I wouldn't say bad brakes. maybe it's the design of the filter? i dunno, sounds good to me.

If you touch the throttle, vs. jumping on it, I am getting the same noise. Think the noise of break squeel is spot on. Pretty frustrating. Have not tried horsing with it yet, pretty sure it was installed well.
Turbo spooling is great...when you actually have a turbo.
