Make black chrome emblems

I just had an idea, and i wanted to see if anyone tried this.

As many of us know, black chrome emblems cost a small fortune, at least for what they are. Has anyone tried using spray on tint on their stock emblems to darken them and give em that black chrome look?

They are chrome, so tinting paint should make em look like black chrome, at least in theory.

Anyone try this?

Here are some examples of tint paint:

Black pearl paint over chrome looks like black chrome and won't bust the bank. I did it to the center of my wheels and to my badges on my Armada.

That looks pretty cool, im thinking about spraying my stock grille with chrome paint, then doing that black pearl paint over it. I think it would look cool.

I have yet to see any painted emblems that look like real black chrome plated emblems. Saving $$$ is cool but don't expect it to look just like black chrome.

^^ Is right, they are not as "rich" looking, but they look pretty damn good and most people thing mine are black chrome. If you look at them real closely, you can see the pearl flakes. But the chrome still reflects through the pearl.
