window tint
window tint
Is the quality of the window tint from the dealership any different than other shops? I'm asking this because I got my windows tinted at the dealership and on my passenger side a little of the tint got scratched off. I called the dealership and they are charging me $85 to re-tint that one window. Should I do it or go to another shop?
Dealerships usually subcontract out tint work to independent shops. Then the dealer marks up their cost so they basically make money for not doing anything.
There is definitely a big difference in tint quality between a good brand and the cheap stuff. Sometimes the cheap stuff turns purple or bubbles up after a few months or a year. If you don't know what shop the dealer uses, you should just go to a high quality independent shop (they should use only top quality tint like Llumar brand and have a lifetime guarantee). Besides, one side window should only cost about $50.

More tint.............
Does anyone doubt why we refer to dealerships as
Stealerships? Try asking the parts manager at your
dealership who they use for tint....if he tells you just
take it to them yourself and have it fixed...sneaky!!
