Maybe Frys in Manhattan Beach (used to live off Manhattan Beach BLVD.) they have everything there. Definately not a radio shack type of item.

SUCCESS!!! it works. over all, i followed your diy but i tapped into different unlock/lock wires (used KPTechnology diagram). and had to switch pins 1 and 3 around on the relay. but it works.

you'd have to run a relay if you plan on doing a rewire since you don't want ppl to be able to just walk up to your locked car and pop your trunk with that button. So you probably want to run it off the dash trunk button but you're gonna need to find a wire that feeds 12v when the car doors are unlocked.

No we don't - the relay we are using is a special latching relay. It switches sides when power is applied to either ends of the relay with a small magnet and a coil. We use the 12V signals to switch the relay to either 1 side of the coil or the other depending on whether the doors were locked or unlocked. This way we don't need any 12V constant power. We just complete the circuit from the factory trunk release using the new trunk button wire. Works like a charm.

I know this thread is almost a year old, but just wondering if anyone has a DIY on how to do this yet. I just ordered a set of 06 tails, so I might look into doing this.

Bringing a thread back from the dead but I'm wondering if anyone has done an actual DIY on this yet. Otherwise I'll just tackle it based on the instructions on post 58.
