Repair a cracked windshield?

So I get out of work today and started up the G. The first thing I notice is that my windshield is cracked. Fuc$. Last week my roof spoiler got scratched up parking in the same spot I usually park. I am beginning to think someone has it out for me. It could be some stupid assh0le are dropping things or running into my car with shiet. Well my question is can I just go and buy those aftermarket repair kit for the crack on my windshield? The crack is about 10 inches long towards the top of the windshield.

just get it replaced if the laws are the same as mass you can get up to 3 windshields per year, ive nvr seen a repaired windshield nor would want one, its in the glass companies best interest to replace and call it a day, so no problems come back and they make some cash and u get a non pitted windshield

win win, i work at a body shop and the guy we have come in to do all our glass uses commercial glass kits, like the urethane is heated so forth, if you have someone who doesnt know what they are doing, it could be bad news

like: the windshield sliding down, or when u get in a accident it explodes, you get the point, the windshield is a safe feature in cars these days

so i would get it replaced by a pro and call it a day

actually, in most cases, it's in the best interest of the car owner to have the windshield fixed. once the windshield is replaced, you risk the chance of it not being sealed properly or as well as OEM and may eventually get leaks. i've had my windshield repaired and it's good as new.

I have a chip on my windshield that I've tried repairing with not 100% success yet. I filled it in I believe but finishing it so that it doesn't stand out is the hardest part.

like i said if you have a person do it who knows what they are doing, you will not have a problem, but if you go to some joe smoo, they will def mess it up, i would personaly nvr use giant glass, as they are big and got the name now, there work went down the drain

personaly i chnage my windshield once a year sometimes 2 times a year, and i nvr had a problem, knock on wood

Repairs are never perfect and there will always be a mark left behind. Getting the windshield replaced isn't the greatest option either if you don't know where to take it like cal said. Make sure they use an OEM molding even if you have to pay extra for it, and sit there and watch them do it so they don't f anything up.

Yeah. I've tried a one use $6 kit from Advance Auto Parts and ended up buying a $12 multiple use kit from amazon. I like the latter one better. I Googled it and found some good instructions so I just followed those.

thats fine, you will be better off this way in my eyes, new shield for the summer which is pit free from rocks

now just make sure you bring it to someone reliable and get your self the upper channel molding and reveal molding, i think thats it, i cant rememebr right now, i know the back glass has side molds but i am pretty sure the front doesnt do to the body molding that goes along the shield and over the driver/pass doord which is painted and plastic and held on via clips

good luck man

Joe
