Ivory Pearl color match probs. Need help quick!!

hey guys, my G is currently in the shop, i'm having my Kenstyle bodykit installed.

I just got a call from the shop. They claim that they followed the color code perfectly, but that there is a slight variation in the color of the kit from the rest of the car after they painted it. Is this normal? or should I insist that they match the color of the rest of the car perfectly?

also, how much do guys think is a reasonable price for painting and installing the full Kenstyle kit. It is the authentic kit with fogs and all.

need some advice quick so I can call them back and tell them what to do. thanks!

I had my authentic kenstyle rear painted and installed for $450. It was also in Ivory Pearl. I personally think that the front bumper is easier to install than the rear so it might cost less. But they might charge the same because they have to wire the fog lights for you too.

IP is a bit hard to match. Even some stock bumpers can look a bit off. I'm not sure why but maybe it has to do with the bumper being polyurethane and the fenders/hood are metal. Especially if the metallic flakes in the paint are not in the same angle as the stock paint. Due to that, it might look off from different angles. As for you, try asking them to blend it to the fenders.

The Infiniti colors are difficult to match perfectly. They contain both a metallic flake and a pearl "flip" component. The ratios for both of these and the pigments have to be perfect for the paint to match in all light conditions. This can be really difficult to accomplish. I have a Desert Platinum Coupe that had to have the rear bumper repainted after being rear-ended. It took 3 attempts to get the color to be a near perfect match (my friend owns the body shop and said it was a royal pain to get the color match - he normally has no problem matching colors including custom colors without paint codes).

I wouldn't pay for it until it meets your standards. I have a Gialla grille that is IP and it matches PERFECTLY.

IP is one of the hardest colors to match. I have yet to see a perfect IP match. tell them to get it as close as they can. you shouldn't be able to tell in daylight. my AB matches in the sunlight but you can tell that it is off in the shade.
As far as price goes. my front was $450 paint and install. so I would guess your entire kit would be a little over $1k depending on what they had to do to prep and fit the way you want.

After being rear-ended, my new back bumper also doesn't color match perfectly with the rest of the IP. It took them an extra day and 3 attempts to get the colors close to perfect.

thanks a lot guys, i just spoke to the shop owner and he says he is gonna send my stock bumper to the paint store and have them match the color as best as they can from there.

they gave me an initial estimate of $780 to paint and install the kit, i thought that was high but based on what you guys have been telling me i guess its not so bad.

i'm worried now that they might try to pad the additional materials that they are gonna have to buy to spray it again to my bill, but i dont see why i should have to pay extra, as its their responsibility to get the color right. what do you all think?

they also sprayed the entire back bumper white after i explicitly told them repeatedly that i wanted the centre piece black, i even printed out pics of other Gs with the Kenstlye rear installed to show them exactly how the centre is to be painted.

even the factory doesn't match IP well, you need to have them blend the 2nd stage component. with these 3 stage paints, it is very hard to match
