The 06 Sport bumper sits at exactly the same height as the non sport bumper. Remember it attaches at the same attachment points. And YES, I did it, and I luv it.

Noye: this pict was taken before I put in my projectors.

Thx for the heads up. I was just about to add that I plan on keeping the splash guards on. I have just read some past posts that the nismo bumper doesn't look like w/out the impul side skirts. Still searching for better pic comparisons

Wes, what do you think of the integrity of fg bumper copared to poly?

I also have plans to clear bra the new bumper when its painted (got a very reasoanble quote from a local 3m installer, but this was for the 06 sports bumper. I wonder how much it would cost to get a custom bra for the nismo?--the installer is noted as being able to custom make them. we shall see.

Damn...If a vendor had a nismo in stock I would probably*pull the trigger on it and deal w/ the fiberglass and lower ground clearance. But to have to wait 3-4 weeks, makes me lean towards the 06 sports bumper... Ya, I'm an impatient b*stard.

Thx lou! I'm heavily leaning towards the 06 sports bumper for the price, fitment, and availability. And while I like the nismo look more, the fiberglass material, but mostly the turnaround time of 3-4 weeks repels me from purchasing it--I don't wanna be rollin round w/ a f*ked bumper for a month. lol. totally not baller

Since you apparently have a choice........

Since you apparently have a choice why not go with the Nismo bumper, it's
way better than either of the bumpers you mentioned! So my vote is.......
"None of the above!"

Hmmm. I gues another option would be to get a lip--since the main scrape is quite low on the bumper and a lip would likely cover it up. I do like the look of the 06 bumper however...

I don't know of any vendors that stock authentic nismo bumpers--and the month wait is what concerns me most on the nismo.

jonny,

if you are concerned about the authentic nismo bumper coming in fiberglass only, then perhaps you should consider klumzyee's nismo replica - it's poly.

from a quick glance at your signature, it looks like you are pretty ballin' ( ) and would prefer authentic > replica any day of the week. keep in mind that the fiberglass, if damaged, can be repaired easier.

having had the nismo bumper myself, i can say that it was noticeably lower than the stock bumper. i would shed a tear every time i scraped the stupid thing.

thx for the reply hero. Fiberglass is easier to repair than poly? I thought it was the other way around? Fiberglass is more prone to damage than poly though, correct?

I was reviewing some old threads when searching for nismo bumper, and noticed a thread where you were deciding b/w the 06 bumper or a lip--What did you end up going for?

fiberglass is stiff and easier to crack. poly, on the other hand, is a bit heavier/thicker material that can flex. although poly is less likely to crack, it is more difficult to repair. i'm sure most all shops would rather repair fiberglass than poly if they have the choice.

also, if you have fitment issues, then fiberglass can be worked with. if you have fitment issues on poly, then you're kind of stuck.

but eric's poly nismo has excellent fitment. i used to have it and i can vouch for it.

i am currently running the non-sport bumper with the OEM lip.

I know you said you scraped a lot w/ the nismo bumper, but do you scrape at all w/ the oem bumper and lip?

I have mild drop w/ nismo suspension and already am pushing clearance issues for Chicago driving (I kno. I need a winter car). This is one reason why I think I shouldn't go w/ either the nismo or replica, and am now deciiding between 06 sport bumper and 05 bumper w/ lip--which seems to be a question you had as well, found when searching through some older threads.

If you don't mind me asking, any particular reason on why you opted for the lip instead of the sport bumper?

i would consider my front to be fairly low (suspension wise, that is. i mean, i have aftermarket a-arms and my front camber is still stuck at -3! what a nightmare!), but the stock bumper with oem lip has yet to cause me any troubles. i have yet to scrape my front.

i don't think you'll have much trouble with any of the oem bumper options (non-sport/non-sport with oem lip/sport) and a mild drop.

there are a couple of reasons i went with the non-sport bumper:
1) i already had it!
2) many more options for aftermarket lips! the 06+ sport bumper only has one option as far as aftermarket lips go.
3) i just prefer the look of having a lip over the sport bumper...personal preference.

thanks wes,

and HOLY MOLY!! that avatar is definately detracting attention from this thread!!!! i dare you not to scroll back up and look!

but back on topic. yes, nismo would be nice, but if the '06 bumper is there for the taking, it looks just as aesthetically pleasing IMO.
