Re-attaching lip spoiler

I just got a JDM lip spoiler for my G35 Sedan from al503 (thanks again!). It affixes to the rear trunk via a 3M tape. Does anyone know how to A) remove the existing tape from the spoiler without damaging the finish or B) how to re-attach it to the trunk (ie, where could I find the tape and are there any special methods)? Anybody cross this bridge before?

Re: Re-attaching lip spoiler

Try searching on the 3M company website. They sell the grey tape that is used for spoilers, emblems, etc. I just looked on their site for another project and you can try rubbing the tape off and then use their general purpose adhesive removal fluid. You can probably find it at an auto paint supply house, which is tha same place to buy new tape to re-install the spoiler..

Also, I'll be getting my G35 sedan soon ( hopefully, unless I have to order it ) and I'd love a tasteful lip spoiler. How did you come by yours ?

Later,

Re: Re-attaching lip spoiler

Sorry for the trouble Townsley. Go ahead and deduct anything you spend to take it off from the price. I apologize. I left you a PM on FA. I used a heat gun to take the spoiler off. This will probably make it easier for you to take the tape off also.

al503 - it's no problem at all - I actually like projects like this! Thanks again, I'm *really* excited about the spoiler!

Re: Re-attaching lip spoiler

I got this spoiler from another g35driver.com member who lives in my area. He got it from a friend in Japan. I know that spoilerdepot.com has a custom lip spoiler available painted or unpainted. I've also read that the BMW M3 spoiler fits perfectly. If you do some searching on this site, you'll come across some posts on the subject. They look really good on the sedan!

Re: Re-attaching lip spoiler

Why did you take off the M3 spoiler? Did it not look good?
