05 bumper/side skirts/splash guards on an 04...

It took several hours, with no help from a huge thunder/rain storm (of course I don't have a garage), but all the 05 parts got on, besides the spoiler. First off, let me just say it is NOT a direct bolt on - there are a few little things here and there that can be a pain, especially if you don't buy a brand new bumper with every single accessory.

First off, mine didn't come with a license plate holder or license plate light holder - of course neither of the old ones fit. The light is still dangling above the bumper, and the license plate went on with the help of needle nose pliers, some brute force, and those stupid little square clip screw holders/screw sets from advanced auto parts (see pic).

Next, if you buy a bumper and splash guards from an 05 to put on your 05, make sure to buy the stupid little piece that goes between the two parts. The old gray one does not come out as far as the new ones do, and you will have a nice big space between the old thing and the new splash guard/bumper lines (see pics).

And finally, the new splash guards will not have any kind of mounting hole. They will connect to the bumper, but not to any part of the chassis. I just took a bolt and nut and connected the two, but they are not attached to anything in the car. When I get the gap filled in I'll do something further about this.

But on to the pics. The side skirts do look fantastic. I'll have to put touch up paint over the old front splash guards mounting spot (looks cleaner without them imo).

And of course the spoiler is going on tomorrow...

Threw in the old pics for those who didn't see my old post

moro310, nice job with the renovation

I have some related questions for anyone that has ever removed the taillights (in order to get to the bumper nuts). When you took off the rear taillights in order to get to the nuts holding up the bumper, how messy was the existing taillight "seal packing"? This is the seal for the taillights. Did it come off cleanly or did it leave a sticky mess that you had to clean up?

When reinstalling the bumper, how hard (or easy) was it to put on the new seal packing onto the taillights and than align the taillights with it on?

Have you had any condensation or water leakage issues?

Thanks!

couple more pics showing some more stuff I've thrown on

I didn't notice any condensation or leakage either

My only thing left to do right now is fill the trunk button hole somehow. Anyone have any suggestions?
