Quarter Panel Paint Job Gloss Question....

I just had the driver's side quarter panel re-panited due to some deep scratches my car had there. I have a 2004 Coupe (diamond graphite). The body shop matched the color, but the gloss on the newly painted quarter panel is not as shiny as the rest of the car....Even when I touch the quarter panel that was painted it feels a little more rough and not as smooth compared to the rest of the car. When I stand and look at the car from the side, the driver's door (which wasn't painted) and the rear quarter panel look really different, not in color, but in gloss...kinda weird looking. How do I fix this? Does the paint need to dry for a few days beofre the gloss evens out with the rest of the car? Will a wax with buffing help (if so, how long do I wait before I can wax and buff)?

Also, I've heard mixed opinions on how long to wait before washing the car after having it repainted...some people say 2 days, some say a week...? What's a safe amount of time to wait?

give it 30 to 60 days then do a good buff and polish it will bring it closer....when they paint they have to color sand (wet sand) which requires a buff and polish so that is they its shinny.

I have the pic of the quarter panel, but when I try to attach it I get a notice that the jpeg file size is too large (I believe it 266kb)....how do I make it smaller?

sometimes new clear will die back. Make them wet sand and buff it and then it should be fine.

i think i have the same problem. At certain lightings and certain angle there seem to be black splotches like it was painted with a thick dark base coat and a very thin outer coat. Other parts of the car don't look like that..

Here's the link....

They painted from where the quarter panel begins to about where the tire area begins (hope this makes sense). The color seems to match, but the new paint looks matte-like or dull, lacking the gloss that the rest of the car has. The car is pretty dirty....but you could still see the difference, especially when compared to the driver's door.
How long can I wait to just wash the car (no wax or buffing)?

Let me know what you guys think I can do to fix this...thanks.

Wow, thats ****ing terrible. You need to have a REAL shop do the job right. It's not going to get any better.

the shop shouldn't have let you take the car like that. if the color is right, you can have it wet sanded and buffed. do not wait 30 or 60 days because the paint will cure and it will be more difficult to knock down the texture. have the shop take care of the colorsand and buffing.

I picked up the car at around 7:30pm so it was somewhat dark and I couldn't tell how close they matched the paint and gloss.

So at this point what would you guys recommend I do....take it back to the same place and chance they mess it up further? What exactly needs to be done to fix the issue?

Thanks for all your help guys.
