Where did you find the hinges for 40? I called up the dealership and they wanted 107 for both hinges.
Yes you need to remove both side skirts, front bumber and both fenders just to get at the hinges.

I just got this issue with my 04 as well. Any other to do's, how to's floating around? What bugs me the most is that I just missed the warranty by 3 days, Mar 09 was my last day. Called and talked to 2 different techs, and no go.

Can aligning the hinges be an easy DIY?

I'd also like to know a DIY. I've read the part in the service manual about it, but it looks like a pain in the butt. If I have to, I'll just bite the bullet and pay the damn dealer.

my hinges were binding for awhile, and one day, the one side totally broke, I brought it in and they said it is covered under warranty and I also had chips on both sides of the hinges and they said that is covered also...I brought it in and they fixed both hinges and repainted the hood and parts of the fenders that were chipped also...It seems like you might have to take off the fenders to get at parts of the hinges, which is something I won't attempt..infiniti should cover everything...

I never knew that this was a problem with our cars. I guess I should spray some WD40 on the hinges when I get home.

you dont have to take the fenders off. just the bolts in the engine bay, and one near the door check.

Can anyone suggest a good online store to buy these from relatively inexpensively?

Also can hood dampers be used to replace the stock hood hinges?

Are you sure about this? The FSM says you need to remove the fender, as did the dealership. I looked at these forever but I don't think there is a way to get at them without removing the fender.

You can remove the hood but the side bolt that holds the hinge on is literially behind the fender.

Riverside infiniti - just PM Rick or Tony. They rock. Also no...the hood dampers do not replace the functionality of the hinge.

when I do hood hinges, and I do a lot of these, I keep the fenders on.

you can peel them back enough to get the hinges in an out. its thin metal. it has plenty of give.

Wow! Luv this site (1st time poster).

I've had 2 problems since I bought my G - I had no clue what to do. The clunking sound coming from the right passenger side when I go over bumpy roads and my HOOD! It has gotten worse, so it seems like I have found my answer.

Can someone send me the link to the place to get the parts (hinges) for $40 online??? Also, do you think spraying some lubricant now might help/fix for the time being, so I can tackle this in a few months? Finally, when I do install them, any particular type of lubricant that is recommended so I can prolong the life (and minimize the maintenance in case I forget?)

I am experiencing the hood rubbing the passenger fender issue. Mine is a 2004 (bought in Feb 2004) with 30k miles. Am I SOL? I am assuming this falls under the basic warranty which is 4 yrs/60k miles for 1st gen? Thanks..
