OK so i got my frontend in today and it arrived at my body shop in a box where the sides of the bumper had to be folded over to get it in the box. Now keep in mind this is a poly bumper and it says that i need to set it out in the sun for it to come back to its original shape. I personaly am freaking out about it. and so is my body shop the edges of the bumper are not in great shape and its going to need alot of work for it to look good.

I just need to know if this is normal.

Its normal, just had mine done, and if I had the choice again, I would of done something else, but the car was in an accident and I thought it was a good idea at the time. The shop that did mine is amazing, and it came out...good...not great. I regret it, especially cause it made my grill have a slight gap that annoys me, yet almost no one else notices unless they stare at it.

 

Should i go with fiberglass?

 

I wouldn't for a front bumper, but thats just me. The front of your car takes the most abuse, and poly is a lot more flexible and such. I'm sure some of the guys with more experience will chime in. I wasn't happy with the fitment or the amount of time it took the shop to make everything right. They did a hell of a job, but god forbid I didn't know the guys, they would of raped me on prices...

your bumper is fine.

and fiberglass fronts are better imo because you can repair them hellluva lot easier that poly.. people are just scared of cracking their bumpers if they get glass fronts.. just learn how to drive a lowered car

 

I've got enough friends who have had stuff bounce up from other cars/trucks/etc etc into their fiberglass front, and the end result wasn't too pretty...

However, I also know of a few who swear by it at the same time.

 

Mine was the exact same...and fitment is PERFECT....just let it sit in the sun for a few

 

Ply does not get damaged as easy as fiberglass does.


So both bumpers have their own pluses and minuses.


But as many already mentioned there is nothing wrong with you bumper.

Set it on the sun and it'll straighten out completely.


But make sure you bodyshop knows how to prep them and paint them.
If they do it wrong your paint will flake off.

 

no matter how much of a pro you are there are those scenarios where you werent paying attention, that make you love having a poly front
