If so, notice a difference (slight pickup in acceleration or anything)? since it's a full sized-spare, i'm thinking i can save a bit by removing it, esp. since the tire on the old mustang (mini spare- p185/??/14) weighed like 50 or 60pds. totla

Not all. Sport-package G's come with a donut. I think the reason was they couldn't make enough sport 5-spoke wheels. Lame, eh?

Geez, all this talk about donuts, etc. Makes me want to buy a box of French Cruellers! But I don't need to increase the size of MY spare tire.

I might run out and get some Krispy Kremes for the office soon after this talk of donuts.
Back to the topic...uhh so what would you do if you got a flat? Call AAA?

As far as I know, only the original Sedans came with FSS, my Garnet Fire Sedan did, but then I believe they stopped when the 2003.5's came along.. My Coupe has just a donut. Seems to me someone said there's no room for a FSS in the Coupe.....Anyone?

I beleive I heard the same thing GSM. I think if they put a fss in the trunk there would be no trunk. There isn't much space there. Thank god the whole rear seat folds down. I think my dealer told me though that a fss spare comes with the auto if you only have the 17 inch wheels, not 18's but I could be wrong about this.

Aha! The full-size spare tire is part of the Winter Package, but only if you do not get the Sport-tuned Suspension Package.
So it's Winter + No Sport = Full-Size Spare.
Anybody have a car that denies this claim?
BTW, for those of you that have donuts like I, I don't see how you get extra trunk space.. there's a styrofoam spacer under the trunk mat that looks like it consumes the extra space that would have been occupied by the full-size spare.

I found from experience, when you take out the spare and have a flat the performance is reduced big time. Could mean a long cold or wet walk.

ryoken, you are correct. with the full-size spare, you lose trunk space due to the spacer to make the trunk floor flat. i asked my dealer before buy and he confirmed this. i find it rather annoying.
i opted to have more trunk space.

I have a 2003 (classic ) that has the sport package and winter package (it's shown as winter package - sport) and I have the full size spare. The Winter Package - Sport lists the following items:
heated front seats and mirrors
Full-size spare tire and wheel (glad they're both full size!)
P215/55-17 A/S tires
Not sure if that clarifies or confuses the issue.
Drive safe, have fun, kick butt when necessary

No, I mean I have a spacer with the donut spare. It looks like it brings it up flush with the bottom of the trunk, and seems to be thick enough to simply be removed to accomodate a full-size spare.

You have a classic. For 03.5, the Winter-Sport does not have the full-size spare. It does, however, replace the performance tires with All-Seasons. Woohoo!
