So I get home today and looked at the roof of my G and theres a big spot where paint is peeling off. its about 7" x 3". Basically the paint on my roof is chipping and I think its gonna be worse tomorrow when I drive to Infiniti and they tell me its my fault.
I guess my questions is has anyone had any luck with the dealerships on getting a paint job to repair paint chipping?
Ive read all about how thin the paint is on our Gs, but when I touch these paint chips on my car, it feels like its been painted with a thin layer of white out (I have an IP)... Damn! Ive had this car since 07.
Ive only had my car through an automatic carwash about 6 times and I wash it at home all the time using Meguiars car wash. However, the car was on a boat for about 60 days when I moved out to the beautiful island of Guam.

On the flip side of everything. I got a long block replacement for oil consumption before I left the states and I just slapped on a pair of BC racing coilover and man they ride nice. I will post pics tomorrow. I guess Ill just be riding low with a bigh gash on my roof for the time being.

Yeah I dont know what it is but the paint is the worst paint job I have ever had on a car it flakes off waaaaay to easy.

I got my 05 used 6 months ago and there was no chips in those six months I have had little rock chips all over WTF?
How did the previous owner not have any chips in three years and I have tons in six months!?

lol- although mostly near the back wheels so maybe I drive to agressive..?

 

I wouldnt mention using any other means of car washing except my own hands!!! On those boats all types of stuff be leaking so it could have been leaked on, ive heard of the chips but never the peeling!

 

the dealership told me they only fix brand new car paint issues..if yo have an 07 your out of luck..it sucks.

 

I have had a few tiny chips but nothing like others have described, and no peeling. I would say the "on a boat for 60 days" is the likely culprit. Sea air/salt is not exactly great for any paint job, especially if it wasn't under a nice thick coat of wax. I'd say you're out of luck getting the dealer to cover it.

Great news fellas. Brought it to Infiniti and the service manager looked and said "WTF!! that aint right. I see rust. we'll paint it for you." So I guess im GTG. Now if only I can get them to paint the entire car. Still gotta convert the pics from NEF to JPEG. I still owe you guys some pics. I appreciate the feed back.

 

I have the same problem on my beater. Except it is a 99 Camry.
