Window Tint Advice Needed
Hi, I just purchased a 2007 G35 coupe. It is OB with black interior, but has no tint which really bothers me. Whoever was the owner before me has blacked out the tail lights which I like, but the dealer I bought the car from said he had to remove the tint on the car because it was too dark (I think it was 5% all the way around). I live in the Atlanta area, so legal is 35%, but I had 35% on my previous car (black honda civic) and it was not anywhere as dark as I wanted. I am basically wanting to go dark (darker than legal) but not go so dark that it attracts the attention of cops everywhere I go. I was wondering if any of you have advice on how dark to go (I was thinking 25%, but I have no reference point, just a wild guess basically) with the color of my car and interior. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If any of you are from the Atlanta area any advice on where to get it done and about how much I should expect to pay would help me out as well. I have heard good things about huper optik tint in terms of reducing heat (a big concern in the summer with a black/black car), but it doesn't show up as very dark which I don't like. Thanks in advance for your help!

To my knowledge, in Georgia you are allowed 35% on all windows except the front windshield. I believe you are only allowed to have a tinted strip across the top on the front. That was how it was when I got my civic tinted back in '05, but I doubt it has changed since then. Does anyone have pictures of what 20% or 25% looks like on a black on black G? I don't really want to have to rely on opening my windows or sunroof to avoid getting a ticket because if its dark or pouring rain or situations similar I don't want to have to worry about that. Thanks for all of your input!

You can do 35% all around on your car and it will look fine because you have a black interior, which will make it seem darker. It's just easier for you because you won't have to deal with tickets. I live in NC and I have 20% all around on my DP coupe with black interior and it's dark, but I've gotten a few tickets for it already. It's really not worth it, but I'm just too stubborn to take it off and put lighter tint on.

You will get bored with 35% real quick. I say do 15% (or even 20%) and call it good. Just roll your windows down if you get pulled over so the cop doesnt see it. Also, im pretty sure you cant get pulled over specifically for tint. They pull you over for something else and then get you for tint as an addition. At least, thats how it was when I lived in VA Beach.
And yes, all your local tint shops should be able to do the legal limit. They can also go darker, but you may not get a receipt or warranty work from them.

There is a place where my friend got his tint on his truck done, it looks pretty really good too. i didnt go with him but he said it was right across the street from andretti speedway they have samples of the tint that they carry at the shop. if i was you i would go with 15-25 all the way around it would look good
