side moulding install

To: any trim or body guys. i just bought the side mouldings for my coupe should i try to install them my self or bring them to a pro.
i'm just worried about getting them crooked, it also says you need a trim roller wheel to get good adhesion.
thanks tom

Re: side moulding install

If you are worried about it, take it to a pro. Probably cost you $100 to get it done right.

Re: side moulding install

IMHO the side mouldings kinda suck... but that's just personal preference... I think they detract from the clean lines on the car... I know many friends that would like to shave the mouldings on their cars and here you go putting them on. ... Also, they don't do much to protect your car from those monster SUV or minivans with pointy doors that same to just go right above your mouldings... as for smaller cars, I just park on corner spots where the only likely damage is going to come from the car on the left's passenger door and then I just pray that they drove alone...

Re: side moulding install

We've talked about before here, but .... The moulding seems to look better with some colors than others. I have the DG and added the moldings later because I thought the doors look too "tall", if you will!

On the other hand, if I had bought the LR, I would not put the moldings on.

It is definitely a personal preference thing, and in my opinion, appearance rather than protection.
