New Paint Job

I was thinking of paying my 1000.00$ comprehensive deductible and getting the car painted I would like to change the color if possible, it also needs the front bumper replaced due to some small dents and scrapes.

I would like to get the car fully painted not just the scratched spots ,I don't want different shades of color from where they repainted.

Has anyone done this before?

I have Geico and I don't know how much they will fight it.

You plan on keying your own car? You cannot just pay a deductible and tell them to paint your car. Also cannot do a color change.

You are not very bright.

Thanks for all the kind words.

My car has several scratches on it some small dents and it was keyed in a very small area.

Both my mirrors were scraped by someones car door.

The front right panel has scratches from a mechanics tools hitting the side of the car while working on the tire sensor.

The side skirt has deep scratches from a curb .

The bumper has dents and scratches.

And there are swirl marks on the hood.

If the body shop see's the need to paint the car I don't see why I cant have it painted black instead of grey.

There is no fraud I even spoke to geico about it.

1. Swirls can be removed by a simple polish.

2. Each one of those dented/scratch areas can be claimed. Since they were all from seperate incidents, they will have to be claimed seperatly. You will have to pay 1000 dollars per claim.

3. Insurance only pays to fix the affected areas. If bumper needs to be painted, then ONLY the bumper is painted. They will not paint your roof for a scratch on your bumper.

4. To change a color, engine needs to be removed, all glass has to be taken out, all body panels have to be removed, everything sanded, masked and painted. Very expensive and also not covered under insurance.

The only possible way to get a whole car repainted is if you go out and key every single body panel on your car, then claim it under your insurance. Go try it.

Again....you are stupid.

Thank you so much for answering my question but more importantly I thank you for leaving me your opinions, that's what I really came on this site for to here what WhosUrBuddiee feels about my insurance questions.

I apologize for wasting the king of all things insurance time asking these questions.

It was rude of me to ask a question about something i didn't know about , for a second I thought I was on an online forum.

I agree you guys are being harsh.

I'd just call Geico and see what they will pay for. If you can get them to do it, then do it.

Hmm... harsh yes. But I see the their point. Best thing is to go with your insurance company and see what happens.
