Clear Coat Pealing On My 07!

I noticed a few weeks ago. I have been a bit busy, but now I have time and I need to know whats up before I do anything about this.

The clear coat on around the front tires is starting to peel. Now I know the only thing I can do is get it repainted. But I was wondering if this would be covered under the warrenty???. I bought the car a month ago off CarMax and I came up completly clean (no repainting) so who is at fault?

I plan on contacting my local infinti dealer about some scratches on the interior door panels and the plastic part of the steering wheel soon anyways, I wanna be informed before I call.

here are the pics...
Drivers side:

Passenger side:

Also, I noticed a VERY small spec of rust in the door frame aside the kick plate. What should I do? Clay bar it and forget? or Mention it to infiniti too?

Ouch, IDK man. Where is the car from and where do you live? Thats terrible.. Only thing that can explain this is that the car was repainted/accident but never reported and thats why the carfax was clean.

DEFINITELY take it back to carmax. Also check around the entire car, under the hood, door jambs, all body panels to see if the paint is matching.

An '07 should still be covered for paint defects like that.

Take it to the dealer. If there's no physical damage in that area, warranty will take care of it.

Looks like the inner fender lining was "rolled". So no, it's not covered under warranty or anything like that.

Take a look at the 1st pic & last pic, you can see where the inner fender area starts to bend where the paint is cracking.

So I'm a little confused now with the mixed replies. Should I be calling Carmax or an Infiniti dealer?

If the fender was rolled does that mean I was being BS'd when I was told the car was clean?

The car was orginally from Alabama, and was shipped from Carmax In Tennessee down to me in Florida.

You can't call anyone. Your fender was rolled. You can try calling carmax but I doubt they will do anything about it. Used cars are sold as-is right? It wouldn't hurt giving carmax a call though. They might do something about it. Don't even waste your time with Infiniti.

Rolled fenders doesnt mean it was damaged. It just meant that the car had larger wheel before or that it was lowered previously and fender was rolled to gain clearance. I suppose the heating to roll it made the clearcoat peel

You should figure it out if the fenders were rolled and if that caused the damage before you call Infiniti. You would look like an idiot if you brought the car in to Infiniti, they inspect it, then tell you it's not covered because someone decided to put giant wheels on the car and rolled the fenders, which caused damage to the paint.

From the responses in this thread, it seems like your front fenders were rolled. Carmax offers a lower appraisal if a vehicle is equipped with aftermarket components. The G35 could have been equipped with aftermarket wheels which needed the fenders rolled in ordered for them to be installed. When the owner decided to sell the car s/he could've decided to keep the aftermarket wheels and throw the stockies back on. That explains why Carmax was unaware of the situation. They'll be able to tell if a car was salvaged and bumpers and doors are misaligned and are about to fall off, but for something inconspicuous like this it's hard for nonbody specialists to notice.

Also I don't see how Infiniti would cover scratched interior panels, that falls under wear and tear.
