He asked me for consent, I let him since I had nothing to hide and didn't want any other complications. Last thing I need is him doing a full modification search on my car.

Hi ya'll,

I just paid $135 fine THIS MORNING, Jan 24, 2011. Smyrna, Georgia

Grrrr...My story for members here is that I had tinted license plate cover for the past 17 YEARS on 1994 Trooper..... I was warned or advised by police it was a violation maybe 5 times overs the years. Those officers were nice about it and maybe not greed driven as in today's local government economy.

Got the ticket in Georgia Dec 2010, with 2 occupied baby seats in back seat with my 2 grandsons...2 and 4 years of age.

I was blue lighted stopped outside the daycare parking lot that I picked them up at about 3pm on a sunny day.

That officer I guess was just doing his job; Given the scene, I thought a warning would have been sufficient. Times have changed, he did not even mention the kids and returned from the patrol car with the ticket for me to sign.

I signed it, drove in to a nearby parking lot and tore the plastic cover off in several big pieces.

Check your state laws but listen to others; it is a violation most everywhere when a cop wants to prosecute it.

$135, not worth it for vanity and $20 accessory.

Oh, I do have an 03 G35 sedan, Nismo Aero kit, Sport, auto(before 6 speed), desert platinum, 17's that I have stored for my retirement "hobby car". Only 39,100 miles.

I've been reading this forum this week after being an member for several years and never posting.

Thanks for all the great tips, leads and "concepts" to mod the G35.

Yea,
The $135 is steep. Who would have thought it?

Could have been better used to "mod" the G35. Say, it is half way to a set of 1 1/2" suspension drop or half way to a plenum spacer kit.

aesthetic value for this mod isnt much, not worth it to get a ticket over

plenty of other mods you can do to show rebelion for your local laws

Also, reasonable cause lets a cop search your car without a warrant if he sees anything in plain sight, or if he smells anything suspicious...

Almost every legal adviser and any cop that isn't trying to use it to potentially get you would tell you to never give any consent bar extreme circumstances.
