Platinum Graphite, Ready to tint the winodws......
I just recently moved down to Tampa, FL and had just purchase my G not too long before that, so of course I'm ready to hook my ride up with some Tint. I have a Platinum Graphite Grey G and my question is the shade or percentage.... I usually have always gone with 15% Lumar film (Good Stuff), but the Infiniti is in a diff. class so I was thinking of possibly going a lil lighter. I want to get the Ceramic based Lumar film so that it doesn't interfere with my radio and bluetooth.
Anyways the guy I was going to use offered me either 30% or 15% in the Ceramic based. I was just looking to see if anyone has the same color G with either of these shades of tint. To be honest I think the 30% may be too light and the 15% too dark. So I may have to use the Sun Tech carbon based 20%, but IDK Sun Tech like that, Lumar tho has always been good to me and the visibility..... mane forget about it... LOL
Please post some pics or provide me with links of your Platinum Graphite's with tint ranging from 30 to 15 %.
Thanks

Damn... djfarhan your ride is CLEAN!!!! What color is that? And it looks like you have lights on ur side mirrors..... Where did you cop them.......? And the tint def. looks good, prolly 15% or atleast 20. Thanks for posting a pic, I greatly appreciate it.
^ thanks dude! usually the 1st response i get from everyone is to drop it! :P
the side mirros, u can get them on ebay. they come unpainted and with no instructions. so u haveta get them painted and need to no ur wiring or get it installed professionally. i got them done by a shop that used to do the coupe side mirrors:

Thanks and that's wuz up and it looks like you modded your headlights and your taillights now that I look at the pictures a lil closer. Blacked them out.... looks smooth. And what color is your car, I don't think I ever saw that one unless its maybe that blue slate but the darker shade.
sorry don't have a better pic with me now but this is a platinum graphite with 30% huper optic ceramic tint to give you an idea. I think a little bit darker might be better maybe 25%? I know 20% would be too dark for my liking.

DHCrocks thanks a bunch your M is really clean and you got the Sport model...... The tint does look kinda light tho I must say must def. gives it a smooth look. Yea I think I'll def. have to go a lil darker. Thanks again for posting those pictures.
yeah go a little darker then 30% It'll look good.
FYI, the one thing about ceramic tint is that under flourcent lighting it looks a little strange...kinda rainbow like appearance. Look at the first pic you can kind of see the effect. Under flourcent lighting you can see there is a grain like pattern in the tint close up. in the sunlight it looks normal just under certain lighting conditions it looks strange. Also if you use polarized sunglasses sometimes you can see a patern in the tint. I've only noticed these things on cars with ceramic tint. But if you want to cut down the heat in the car ceramic is the way to go, it's much better.

sick sick sick
Hey man, I'm in the Tampa area as well....over near Brandon. Anyways, no inspections down here so you don't have to worry about that...and the cops, in most areas, dont care a whole lot about tint, so you can probably get away with darker than 35%, which is the legal limit. I have 5%, have had it on two cars now and have never been pulled over for it. Anytime I've been pulled for speeding or something else, I roll both windows down (just incase) and they've never said anything to me. I would highly recommend 5%....it keeps your interior cooler on those blistering FL days. Look up MCOR Automotive (http://www.mcorautomotive.com/). They are a custom stereo/tint/upholstery shop in the Lutz area....just north of Carrollwood/Northdale on Dale Mabry. And if you tell them you are from TampaRacing.com they will give you a nice discount. I got the graphite 3M 5% tint for what the cheapy Llumar stuff goes for. And it is all computer cut. Highly recommended and they're good people.
Jhambor good look on the tint info. I just gave them a call and they also informed me about the front window tinting which I would want to take advantage of. Your ride looks good though, but I honestly don't want it that dark. Makes the car look all thugged out. I'm 26 those days are over... LOL I'm on my grown man tip. That's why I want something that compliments car and style. He also informed me they have a color stable tint from 3M that he has 30, 20, 5% shades.
I gotta do some research on the quality of the 3M because I've heard of them for tint but don't recall hearing good things. He was claiming tho, that its heat resistant properties brought a 500 degree heat lamp down to 260.
Either way I appreciate the info.

yeah you should do the front windshield, I don't know about your area but over here we can put Air80 tint on the windshield. It really helps to cut down on the temps and doesn't affect visibility since it's basically clear, just a very slight 80% tint. If you look at my second pic, it has Air80 with a 5% visor strip.
Also, do the sunroof that will help too.

Haha, well I'm 28 dude! 5% is pretty common down here though actually, probably considering how hot/sunny it is most of the year. Another benefit of the darker tint is your car is less likely to be broken into....thieves usually go after things they can actually see in your car. Nowadays 3M is probably one of, if not the best tint you can get. I know it's the best tint they carry, and they have 2 or 3 different grades of it. I believe they also carry Llumar and Sunguard or SolarGuard. I believe mine has a lifetime warranty against discoloring. If you go up there, they have samples with a lamp so you can actually take a look. One of the few shops I trust, I've known the owner for quite a few years now, and I use to install with one of the car audio specialists there.

I have 3M 20% tint on all windows on my graphite coupe. it looks very sharp; it had 35% on the back when I bought it but it wasn't quite dark enough for my taste. i'll try to get a picture up later today (at work right now with other car). I also have 3M 20% on my other car and it has held up very well, I've had it for about 3 years now. It also has a lifetime warranty that covers a bunch of stuff. Just make sure that if you take it to a car wash tell them not to touch your windows, as it can be scratched with the spray bottle ends. (they scratched mine this week and I didn't notice it until it was too late)
