Question for those running Strafespeed or Hikkatadori trunks
Mine is currently getting installed at the body shop. These guys do come highly recommended. They called me and told me they were taking off the hydraulic trunk shocks (the ones that hold the trunk up when you open).
They claim that they've installed a fiberglass trunk lid before, and left those shocks on (not on a G35, just "another car"). They are saying that since the shocks are made for a metal trunk, they're too strong for the lighter fiberglass, and will eventually cause it to crack with repetitive closing as I'll have to put more pressure on the trunk when closing to counter the strength of the shocks.
So I'm curious, what is everyone else doing with theirs? Do you still run the shocks? Do you run just one shock? Have you encountered any problems with either the trunk cracking, or coming loose from its mounting points?
Thanks in advance for the help! This has me a little worried being as I'm getting the car back tomorrow and as I do often use the trunk, want to make sure I have this squared.

I've definitely heard of this about carbon fiber hoods and the need hood struts with less strength. I know I've seen people who claim to still be running one shock on their trunk. I personally took off both as well as the clips that prevent the trunk from swing past perpendicular. I personally really like how it gives you more room and doesn't look bad imo either.

i have both my shocks completely removed and havent had any problems with cracking or anything of that sort, you just have to be more careful when shutting the trunk not to let it slam down. most people remove them bc it will allow the trunk to actually close properly and sit flush. When my body shop installed mine that was the issue we ran into and as soon as we removed the shocks it sat perfectly

Usually people remove the shocks to get it to sit lower. On the HD trunk it still won't line up 100% just by removing the shocks.
Lots of good info in here from when G SEDAN put his HD trunk on.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys. I also ended up talking with Dustin from Strafe who recommended using only the passenger side shock.
I tried it today without the shocks or the clips, and while I liked it, I felt a bit too iffy about what would happen if I accidentally lost grip on the lid or something else, so ended up reinstalling the clips and the passenger shock.
Here's some pics of the trunk on the car:
