DIY - Cupholder Lights

Hey,
This is a DIY for those who want to install lights in their cupholders that turn on when you turn on your headlights by using the power from the heated seats switch.

Finished Product:

Things you need-
--Grain of wheat bulb - $2.19 on Frys.com

http://www.frys.com/product/2764843;...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

--OR an LED of your choice
--A drill with drill bits
--Electrical Tape (or any tape for that matter)
--Super glue (anything that can hold down the bulb to the cupholder

Step 1:
Stick the ends of the grain of wheat bulb into green and brown ports of the heated seats switch. And then tape it to the other wires with some electrical tape or any tape that you have.

Step 2:
Drill 2 holes on the back of your cupholder where you want the bulbs to come out of. (mine are a bit off but you get the idea)

Step 3:
This is where it gets a bit tricky, try to match where the bulbs would come in to the actual cubby area to the cupholder and then drill a hole (I eyeballed it and it matched up pretty good). Basically you trill 4 holes, 2 in the cubby and 2 in the cupholder (Or 2 only in the cubby if you don't have the cupholder).

Step 4:
Stick the bulbs through both holes and stick them where you want with your choice of glue or epoxy. I used Loctite Adhesive.

Step 5:
Put your heated seats switches back into their place and put everything back together. When you turn on your headlights the bulbs should come on too! They are a bit bright but you can use LEDs or bulbs that aren't as bright. I'm going to change mine soon to LEDs or an LED strip but this is good for now!

Let me know if you need any help or have any cool ideas!

Strips. Front ones are hidden. Back ones I opted to not hide them and mount em on the botyom of the seat. They blend in since I have black interior

Put a dimmer in or a just a 100 ohm(est.) resistor

Lighting looks really good in the picture though. I like the carbon on that console.

Oo good idea, thanks man, these look good in the day but they're too bright at night so the dimmer sounds like a good idea
