Exterior details in Plasti Dip
I didn't know that tinting tails could be reason to put you at fault for an accident. Learn something new each day! Long let us know how that dip lasts on th exhaust tips. With the change of season I'm sure it's going to crack.
I'm having exhaust done with plasti dip for the last 3 months and it stays hard, no pilling, no bubbles, will see how it holds farther...but it really strong to high temp, not the calipers or engine cover but something like exhaust tip, rims it holds good. My buddy have done his aftermarket rims on vw golf with white plasti dip, and the only hadace is keeping them clean, over then that's its stats good
Personally I love plastidip for all the different things you can do with it, although I would not use it to tint the tailights. I plastidipped one of my G's rims blue and they look great but it is the factory rims and when I either get sick of it or sell it I can take it off and not have ruined the rim. On the other hand my other G has deep dish Volks and I would never plastidip those.
When I was in L.A a few years ago my ex's brother was telling us that Plasti-Dip was the style out there..he of course had a 350 at the time and did the entire vehicle. Actually didn't look too bad...
But anyways, I do like the PD if it is done right. That is where people fail when doing modifications, they do them quick and cheap. Which makes it look like *** and people make fun of and call them "ricers." I'm going to be doing my wheels soon, only to PD a base coat and do gun metal or another color on top of that. Hell, if the PD looks good enough I might even keep it on there.
I haven't posted much here because I have done more reading than asking but I have noticed that the whole "opinions are like *******s" thing is common just like any other forum...If he want's to PD his car then let him, sure ask why or how but if/when it looks like **** just tell him you don't think it looks good and maybe you could do it this way. No need to call him/her an idiot...

It is the same appeal of cars in different colors. No one is trying to make them look aftermarket, just trying to make them more appealing in their eyes. Some people simply prefer the look of black or gunmetal over stock silver.
Yeah I still don't see why there is so much hate on plasti-dip. Probably and old school vs new school mentality. There are some bad things that it's beed used for and can look tacky but using it on emblems and grills and rims with appropriate colors doesn't seem bad to me. If he plasti-dipped his grill and posted pictures saying he painted it matte black I doubt anyone would be able to tell the differnce
PD is a halfass lazy way to do anything, that is why there is hate. Some people spend alot of time and money to properly modify their car, then kids come along with a can of plastidip and spray everything they can (even tail lights).
I PlastiDip everything , dipped my toilet , I also dipped my cat since I was tired of its white fur I dipped it black and added metalizer , I dipped my mirrors and the sole of my Jordans to protect it from harsh weather conditions .
