Cause Magnets

Hey all… just wanted to pass on a little info I received from my body shop guy about those magnetic ribbons "support the troops" "God Bless America" etc.. He told me that he has been getting a lot of cars in that are getting dull spots or hazing under the area the magnet was on. Basically magnetizing the metallic for a long period of time causing the particles to disperse and give you the dull spot. Very difficult to clear up. In some cases it has to be reshot and you know how hard it is to match a metallic… People don't notice it to often because they keep the magnets there for months on end and tend not to move them... Just wanted to pass that tidbit along… I guess its back to window decals...

I doubt that the explination is "magnetizing the metallic" (WTF does THAT mean?). But putting anything like that on your paintjob for any length of time would seem to be a very bad idea.

maybe because the part the magnet covers... isnt exposed to the element's sun, UV, rain, dirt etc... and so the wear and tear on the paint surface is different...
