Help With Window Motor

So yesterday I removed the side panel of my drivers side door using this guide here in hopes to get the window motor fully functioning again.

After removing the top cap of the window motor like this Name: WindowMotorDIY042.jpg
Views: 77
Size: 46.0 KB and cleaning it, I can not get it to sit flush like it once was when I took the screws out.

Its quite frustrating because I cant get the screws back in due to the fact it will not sit flush. I have tried holding the cap on and powering the window up and down but it makes no difference. Any help would be appreciated!

It could only be one of 2 things as to why it will not go on the whole way. Either you don't have the long rod piece with the brushings in correctly/the whole way to the bottom or you're not centering the cap on right and pushing it down the whole way. It takes a bit of force because its magnetic and will attach to the sides before it is on the whole way.

I have tried screwing the rod back down inside the motor and positioning the cap correctly, I will try again but not sure if it will work

Edit;
Still no luck, the rod is all the way inside the motor and the cap is completely on I know for a fact. I don't know why it won't sit flush. Its very frustrating because I can't get the screws off the back either so I can't replace the window motor even if I wanted too.

When you removed the cap, you more than likely pulled the rod off of the window brushings. The only way to get them back on the right spot is to take the whole thing apart. This will require un soddering the wires and pulling the white plastic piece out. Because you now have to do this, you might as well purchase new brushings and put them in since everything will be out already. Then you won't need to worry about the motor going bad for awhile.
