Dash Repair?
Dash Repair?
So I've got a few cracks and missing bits of the soft-touch part of my coupe's dash (combination of age and not paying attention when installing a double-din/removing trim). Mostly just minor cracks near the silver trim, biggest gap is maybe half an inch by a tenth of an inch. Is there any sort of filler that anyone is familiar with to repair this sort of damage? The orange under-foam is looking pretty janky. A dash-cover is my absolute last resort, but I'd prefer to get it covered somehow.
Here's what I've used - fairly easy cleanup, and it remains flexible. I just put a bit on a piece of plastic like an artist palette, and apply with a thin, flexible scraper - old gift cards (or new ones that haven't been loaded, sourced however you see fit). Have Shop Towels handy to wipe clean. As it gets dry, you can use a paperclip to scratch some texture into it. It's worked better than the "real" dash repair kit I tried at first.

@Wrathernaut Never knew that black-caulk stuff was proven to work, used it plenty in houses but never heard of anyone using it in a car. Good thing a Home Depot is four hundred yards from my place.
@Rob Wolford Never personally used those, but I've heard they work ok on leather/vinyl. Would rather take to a shop that specializes in it though, as they can make any corrections as needed to prevent future problems (i.e. the infamous coupe seat problem).

I use basically the same process as wrathernaut but I use a hot glue gun and fill the crack with hot glue. However I have the dash out and it ends up getting primed and painted, or wrapped.
For large damage, probably. I've got minor chips/cracks, so I'll take miscoloration over orange foam showing. At Home Depot right now and they sell a clear version, which could be a good bet for playing it safe (paint later like Cleric).
