Installing a factory chin spoiler

Just a question, how hard would it be to install the factory chin spoiler fr a G35 Coupe? It looks rather easy, anyone ever installed one themself?

Very Simple, just a little time consuming! An extra set of hands will def help out. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions. I have done 2 already! LOL

PeteNJ you will need a drill for this. you'll be drilling 4-6 holes in your bumper.

Ky,
I know I have to drill holes I am just wondering if I have to drill through any metal. It seems the bumper is mostly plastic?

the install is pretty easy but just time-consuming because you have to take off all the underbody pieces. actually, you will have to drill about 12 holes into the bumper. there are also 8 holes on the bottom of the bumper that need to be drill for the pin fasteners. although you can do without the pin fasteners (the spoiler will stay without them), they make the spoiler more secure. another member had his chin spoiler get ripped off by a parking spot divider because it wasn't secure by the fasteners.

You won't need to drill into metal at all. The only thing you may wanna get is some files that are small enough to fit into the holes you drill. You will drill 2 holes about 1/2" or so under the license plate (way under and towards the outer edges where the spoiler would go) and then to the outer edges of the stock lower vents - 2 holes each side which you drill side by side and the drill out the center. This is where the files come in because you wanna make those 2 holes into more of 1 oval hole. The lip bolt needs to "float" in there. It should not catch or be tight in this hole. SOunds more complicated then it is. It's very easy, an extar pair of hands helps when constantly fitting the lip. The first time I did mine I fitted it like 4-5 times. The second one I did I knew how the holes had to be so it only took me 2 test fits. Only precation is to not overtighten the bolts. This will make ur lip appear dimpled.

The hardest part is actually cutting out the templates! I think I would use a razor blade instead of scissors next time! LOL

Installed the lip yesterday. I actually got my car up on Rhino ramps with no issues. I just had to do it on a slanted part of my driveway. Took me about 2.5hrs because it rained halfway through the install. It was pretty straight foward after you get over the fact you are drilling 12 holes into a brand new 37k car. However, they are right the templates ARE NOT exact. So be careful when you drill and make sure you take measurements.

Sorry no pics I didnt want to get my camera wet!

I just ordered a factory chin spoiler from everything G35 along with the T-Rex lower Billet grilles. By the sound of it, my buddy and I may be able to put that on ourselves. However, I'll still check with a body shop to see how much they'll install it for.

I got my T-Rex grilles in yesterday. I had some time to kill so I installed them. The installation was not too bad, although I did use a few twist ties to help secure the grilles onto the OEM mesh. I'll take some pics today and put them up.
