Pic's of PIAA LED to PIAA TERA LED(new technology)
Today I installed my Piaa TERA Led's into the clearance strip. I had PIAA super white LED's, but they weren't as bright as I had hoped. These new LED's are much brighter than the old Piaa LED's, and have a much wider viewing angle. This all translates to better illumination of the clearance strip. I'm happy with the results. Sorry that some of the pictures came out blury.
Here is the original thread where I learned about these leds:

The LED's are a little bit longer than the old Piaa LED's:

here is the resistor with the crimps already connected

Piaa super white led's followed by the Tera Led's

different angle same sequence

Here's a good shot showing the difference in output between the 2

with headlights on:

The led's seem to output the same color, but as you can see with the old LED's, they aren't bright enought to fill the whole strip and the light looks more blue at the bottom. These are brighter and are better at keeping the blue away. I'd say the new led's tera led's have very little to no blue hue to them.

Cant a socket be customized at the bottom of the strip to fully fill in the strip? Thats what I was thinking of doing. I was going to do a long row of LEDs from top to bottom, but I think having one at the top and bottom would be alot easier!

I don't think the TERA has even been out for a year for your buddy to be running them that long. The old LED have been out for many years now though.
Good luck getting and significat discounts on these, PIAA is very strict on pricing. The TERA bulbs run $50+ for the pair.
