To anybody working on something like this, if you need more sealant, look for butyl rubber. The Nissan sealant is just a strip of black butyl rubber. You can also find butyl rubber caulking at local hardware stores for much less. You'd just want a black one, which may be harder to find...

BTW, use the oven. A heat gun may work, but it won't apply even heat like your oven can. You'll see why that's important when you start trying to pry the thing open...
