How do you cut sheet metal?

I have a template and want to trace it on to sheet metal and cut it out.

Question is, how hard is it to cut?

What tools would I need in order to cut. Any special tools?

I have all the basic air tools and cut off wheels and grinders. Do you think I'll be all set or anyone have any recomendations?

TIA

depend on how thick the sheet metal is.if it not too thick use what they called "tin snip" basiclly it's a heavy duty scirsors.if it thick then cutoff wheel and grinder will do the job.
ok,which house are you trying to break into???

HAHA, actually...

I'm going to be cutting out sheet metal to put on the under part of my bumper... going to rivet them in.

I'm going to be putting on a Greddy front bumper and I know how low it is. I don't want the bumper to scrape so much on the fiberglass.

I've had fiberglass on my previous cars and I just don't want it to fray.

don't really need an air compressor, use the one at work

that metal shear should be good enough right?

you can use a grinder with a cut-off wheel. they are not that expensive and it has many uses. electric ones are good enough no need to go pnumatic, I have a 18v battery one and it's great at cutting sheet metal, aluminum stock and griding all sorts of stuff. I didn't think it would be useful, but I would rather pick this up then a jig saw to cut metal, it makes nice clean straight cuts, but watch out for the sparks.

yeah... Sparks suck!

I got my trusty over priced Snap-On glasses tho... (I'm a label *****... all Snap-On)

now... where can I buy Sheet metal?

I live in the city so it's kind of hard to find local A/C heating stores.
