Premium Rearview Mirror Question

I bought a non premium package G35. My fiancees FX35 we just bought has it, and has the nice homelink system in the rearview mirror. I was looking at it (though I confess I haven't taken it apart yet to inspect) and I think the homelink unit is totally self contained in the mirror. My guess is that it only requires power and ground, run up under the headliner.

So, does anyone know if this is the case? If so, does anyone know where I can order the rearview mirror and how much? I'll plan to integrate that soon.

PS... Go to the Audio/Video section. I just put in my DD kit with the Pioneer AVIC-D1. Pics are up.

Everything is intergrated into the mirror itself. You can buy it at the link below:

Thanks! Looks like you have to call a dealer. I'll call them tomorrow since they are closed now. I'll post pricing for anyone else interested after I get it myself. Looks like I can get it online for $217.95. Cool!

I actually thought it would be a lot more than that price. After all, its got the auto-dimming and the garage openers built in.

The Gentex NVS Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror instructions list three different sets of removal operations for the original (OEM) mirror.
  1. Screw mount mirror
  2. Wedge mount mirror
  3. Camlock mount mirror
Does anyone know which mirror the G35 Coupt has?

It would sure be nice to be able to swap mirrors without removing the mirror button from the windshield. Gentex says that they offer several button adapter plates, but that button replacement is also sometimes required. I think prying the mirror button off the windshield would be a deal breaker for me.

I'll let you guys know when I do it. I just did my Double Din kit and AVIC-D1 install. So that took a chunk of cash. Plus I just bought my PAC SWI-PS. So now I need to wait a month or so before I start dumping more money into my car.

The other two things on my list, now that I have the JDM AC controller (from DD kit) is I need to find a DUAL button and LED, and I need to start researching on what parts I'd need for the auto headlights. I got the moonroof, which was like 700 at the dealer, so that plus the 200 for the rearview is only 900, and premium package is 2000, so I'm still saving money. I just wouldn't mind those auto headlights! LOL!

Does anyone have a link to buy this online? This link says you have to call for a dealer.

There are a few places online to buy, just do a search for 50 GENK-40. I'm installing mine on Tuesday, now that I got it in the mail. I actually have an extra one brand new in the box for sale $200 shipped in the US.

Did you do the install? How hard was it? I assume it was the 50 GENK-40 you installed.

I have heard that you need to go through the headliner, down one of the pillars, and then onto a 12volt line somewhere in the dash. No chance of just wiring into one of the lights up there?

Thanks!
