Angry Damn leather belt bleeding into my willow seats.

OK, what product will remove the reddish/brown dye from my leather belt from my willow seats WITHOUT removing the willow dye from the seat leather?

BTW, this was a $75 belt and I had it for ~1 year. I think the reason the dye leached into the seat was due to the extremely high temperatures the inside of my car has been seeing lately. Temp gauge says 116 when I get in my car.

Neff I had the exact same problem with my black leather belt. I tried Lexol which lightened it up a litttle but didn't do a whole lot. So , I decided to take it to a detail shop and see what they could do. The guy basically told me that in order to correct a problem such as what were dealing with, the seat would have to be re-dyed at a speciailty shop which in turn will be pretty pricey

I had the same problem, but with dye from a shirt of mine. I tried to lighten up the stain with a few products I had (Lexol, Griot's Interior Cleaner, Dawn), and it removed most of it, but you can still see the dye. I wouldn't be surprised if more people experienced this problem with the Willow leather seats. Any recommendations on what to use would help, cause it sucks to have dye on your seats.

Is there leather protectant that can be applied to the seats making dye transfers easier to remove?

I know that rubbing alcohol will take out ink. You could try that but test it in a hidden area.

it will, but it will remove the seat color too. You should try it diluted with water on a very small area.

I tried diluted 409 and that worked kind of well. Unfortunately my other belt now has the same problem. Maybe it's time for cloth inserts...

Wow....guess I wasnt the only one who had this happened to....but mine came off...I just rubbed it with lexol when the seat was still a hot, maybe you should let the car baked outside for a couple hours first before you try removing it....

I had the same problem with my dark blue jeans bleeding onto my seat. I used meguiars leather cleaner, and it took off most of the dye without harming the seat. Can't really see it anymore.
