Lesson learned, don't use goo-gone on any plastics w/ any sort of friction. It WILL ruin plastic, amongst other things. You should have realized that goo-gone is just about the same as paint thinner, an abrasive.
More of a solvent than abrasive,,but yes you're right.
Pretty sure the directions say flush with water right away.
