Highs and Fogs

What bulbs for the highs and fogs can I get to better match the color of the lows (HIDS)?

Is it hard to install the bulbs?

It is actually very easy to install the fogs. Look into the PIAA lights to match them.

Need to remove the front wheels and remove the cover. The housing has a twist cap then you need to squeeze these spring clips that are holding the bulb in. Not too hard really. Just a little time needed.

Goodluck

first off, no need to remove front wheels - enough to turn the wheels to the side (all the way to the right for left wheel, and all the way to the left for right wheel) - once the car is jacked up.

i have PIAA Xtreme White Plus in the fogs, and it matches the stock HID lights almost perfectly.

Just a heads up for everybody. If you put in aftermarket bulbs for your fog/high beam, if for any reason you develop a crack in the reflector housing above the fog bulb, make sure you change out the bulbs to the OEM's before taking it in for service.

I had both of my headlights crack directly above the fog bulb. I was running MTEC H4 super whites..........The dealer replaced my headlight assemblies, but would not re-install the MTEC's or the PIAA extreme white clearance bulbs......They tried to tell me that the heat from the higher temp bulb caused the reflector portion to crack......I think its a bunch of BS, but maybe another dealer would not replace them under warranty if the aftermarket bulbs were installed....

This is what my car looked like with the MTEC's and PIAA extreme whites in the clearance and clear corners....

Would the MTECs crack them, do they get that much hotter than stock?

I did some research myself and waiting to save up some $$ before buying some. I think the JDM Phillips Crystal vision are the best overall IMO - for life and lumen output match to our HID's. The color temp is 4300K (which our HIDs are around 4100~4300 as the bulb gets older the temp get higher. They are supposed to be brighter (lumen) than our stock fogs so you won't take a hit like PIAA / Mtec. They are a tad pricey ~60 bucks, but i think they may be the best choice.

piaa lights with high numbers in lumens will burn overlays and damage the housing of the lights, some guy post that when he removes the overlays the lights housing where looking pretty yellow due to the high temp.

I purchased some Sylvania Silverstars (9003) - though not 100%, they are certainly far better than the OEM. Took all of about 10 mins per side. No need to jack the car, no need to remove wheels, just a little patience, a 10MM socket, a small flathead and a philips screwdriver.

There is an xls sheet on the sizes for ALL the G35 lights, I recommend you search for it next time Link below ...
