Nismo Rear Diffuser on a '05?
Since this is in line with the original topic, I'll confirm now that (and recant my earlier comments to the contrary) the AUTHENTIC NISMO rear diffuser DOES NOT fit the '05 coupe. It's close, but no cigar. In fact, when I held it up prior to being painted, it looked like it would be great. In fact, it's about 1/4 too short (1/8" each side). It's not wide enough to fit the cosmetic line that's there.
I'm going to check on an updated version. I suppose I have one, painted satin black, if any '03 or '04 owners want an authentic one for what this replica is going for or best offer otherwise. The bodysop didn't want to section it and add length, as they can't gelcoat, and that's what gives this thin piece most of it's strength. Not enough room on the backside to add conventional support material.
If the replica was molded over the authenic one, it will be big enough for the '05. It may be anyway. And, of course, a urethane version would flex just enough overcome that 1/4" gap. I'm pretty dissapointed, as it looks really good. I'm still in denial, as I'm brainstorming on ways to make it work.
I really hope NIMSO is offering an updated/'05+ version. It took me 5 months to gett this one... ...I can wait again, if available.

I have not fitted one up to an 05 G35 myself that I can recall off. But I really doubt that Infiniti changed the design of the rear bumper. Its really not cost effective for them to do so. Unless there is some design flaw or updates in design...
Now the NISMO Diffusers that I have seen do not fit the left and right side of the line gap perfectly from the ones I personally seen. They come up short and are held onto by 3m tape and are riased on those points.Meaning you can see the gap lines of the bumper over the exhaust. If you have a local G35 friend with a 03-04 you might want to try a quick fit up and I'm sure you'll find the same thing. Then again I could be wrong
If I am someone please chime in.The piece we built is actually wider in dimensions so the piece fits the gap...I really do not know if thats the intention of NISMO to come up short, shrinkage of fiberglass, bad batch or maybe the Japan version bumper is different but I think you'll find they usually come up short on the US G35's. Like I said if someone can chime in I would really like to know if the new model bumpers are different. Thanks!
636 racer,
Regarding the CF diffusers if your ok with the weave not being perfect and understand that, we are more then happy to sell you a CF diffuser...

And I agree, the thought that the bumbers changed is ridiculous, especially when it would be such a small amount. My only thought was, because of the small size issue, perhaps it was a small change required in the mold. If I had known the NISMO didn't fit really snug, I might not have endured the long wait and high cost.
Just went to the bodyshop to look at the now black NISMO diffuser. Not happy with the way it looks afterall, so I will likely put it on Ebay and hope to get $300-$350 shipped for it.
I haven't taken a pic, but it's real simple to explain.
The top of the diffuser should follow the line in the rear apron. Left of the license plate does, right of is too low. You notice because that detail line can just be seen above the right side. Also, being black on IP, it's even more apparent. If it was IP as well, it wouldn't show. It's also possible to modify the pre-drilled holes underneath to allow for vertical adjustment, but it's still going to be short on the ends by 1/8".
I tend to pay an unhealthy amount of attention to small details, so I know this little thing will irritate me. I really want it black, otherwise I'd paint it IP and adjust it's height and be happy.
The effect is what I hoped for. If the fit was perfect I would be extremely happy. It's a bit of a shock, as the authentic NISMO front bumper is absolutely OEM in fit and finish. My bodyshop said the same thing again when discussing the rear diffuser.
