well,

My friend got his painted for around 350 and it turned out great. There were no spots that 98 was talking about. i think its because he only paid 150. Basically you should not go cheap on getting a paint job IMO.... He had NO problems with the clear corners. He should post pics tommorow of his bumper at the DUB SHOW..

The bumper fits great along the sides. No fitment problems to his except the minor flaw that we told yuichi and he fixed it on all the rest of the bumpers. Fenders matched up even to the ING's fenders......

As for the holes on the bumper. The paint shop that my friend used, he actually put extra dots of clear coat(drips of clear coat) so that there aren't any holes. I think this is more of a paint shop issue instead of KurumaZ's problem. They developed a really great bumper and even risked it by making it urethane(which is more expensive).

for the clear corners, i agree that issue needs to be taken care of. Now Yuichi knows, he will fix it. thats how it goes.

I know I can't ask for much when I only spent $150. I went back to the body shop today. The wife of the owner told me they usually charge $258 to paint a bumper, but would not charge me anymore than $150 that they originally quoted me. She said they did a lot of work to the bumper...as much as possible for $150.

She had one of her guys sand down the area behind the clear corner. Everything fits snug now. I installed the bumper tonight, along with the customautomesh. The only thing I have left to do is drill holes in the bottom of the bumper to attach the plastic undercarriage. I will do this probably tomorrow.

I believe the paint is off, but I did not have time to inspect it tonight. The body shop said it would cost $450 to blend the front bumper with the quarter panels and hood...that is the only way the paint would match perfectly.

The only fitment issue I have is that the left part of the bumper doesn't allign 100% with the quarter panel. I will post pictures tomorrow.

I believe that $150 is price for paint without prep. Our club gets a discount so you probably got 15-20min prep done to it for free.

Mine needs about 1.5hrs prep work and he quoted me ~$230

As promised...

Notice the left side of the clear corner opening where the clip goes in (this is where it needed to be sanded down...everything fits perfect now)

I decided to take advantage of my headlight overlay I have had sitting in my trunk for a year now

Naked

The reason why I wanted a new bumper...this is my OEM bumper

Kuruma bumper with customautomesh (I ordered the mesh on a Friday and it was at my door by Monday...super fast service!!!)

Now for the goods...I took a ton of pictures that look all the same, so I'm sorry if they look repetitive. I bought my gf a Canon SDH550 for Christmas, so I'm still learning how to mess with it. The car is extremely dirty...sorry for that, too.

I was told that for the mesh that comes with the kuruma bumper, you're supposed to use self tapping screws that they supply you with. Is that the approach you used to attach your custom auto mesh?

When I purchased the mesh from customautomesh.com, I chose the option to purchase the mounting kit ($4.00). It is just simple speaker wire...I don't know what gauge (guessing 12g) that are about 4 inches in length. The kit came with 30something strips of wire. You could just go buy speaker wire from your local hardware store and cut them into pieces yourself. Buy some epoxy from your local hardware store and place a small amount of epoxy along the inside of the bumper near the bumper openings. Place a strip of the wire in the epoxy and allow to dry. I only waited an hour for it to dry, but 2 or 3 have already fallen off (I'm going to have to redo them)...so wait longer. Once the epoxy has hardened, place the mesh over the openings allowing the strips of wires to stick through the mesh. Fold down the wires so the mesh stays in place and the wires are not visible. Finito...or finished.
