CHILZELED:

Thanks, i had a look at all your pics http://www.n2graphics.com/graphx/venev/

How much was the diablo kit?
Which company makes the kit and do you have a url?
How much was the install?
Are the bolt on or welded?
Did you install it yourself? Did the kit come with really detailed instructions?
I also would love to see a pic of them opening the usual way to see how much of a squeeze it is to get out without putting them vertical.
If you could post a review of the kit then that would be great?

You can PM me if you like. I'm thinking of getting a door kit, but i would need to import to New Zealand.

Cheers
Mike

PS - Can people please stop biatching about how they dislike the doors, because you are cluttering the thread... it's not as tho we havn't heard it all before. We'd actually like to hear from people who have the doors.

I wonder why gullwing doors were never nicknamed Mercedes doors.

They're vertical doors. No reason to drag Lamborghini through the mud with you.

Probably because Mercedes coined the term gull-wing.

Thank you, I just asked what are good brands, and how they fit. I don't care if someone doesnt like them, if you dont like them on a G then dont read (or even post) anything in my thread.

Thanks

Dude you're lame for posting this comment - keep your RICE opinions to yourself if you don't mind.

I think lambo doors are a great idea for our coupes cause the doors are so long and big that getting out of tight parking spots is really hard and uncomfortable. I would love to be able to lift that huge door out of the way in a tight spot.

I think some come with shocks to help with the weight, don't they?

yup most of them come with some sort of shock to reduce the weight. I heard someone hypothesize that they will wear out with time, but i'm not really sure how true that is.

I've gone through the old threads and gathered some information:

Decah

www.decah.net - site lists prices as $980 - $1300 I can’t see the G35C listed on the website, so I emailed them for details. I have a feeling the only support 350Z

EDIT: Just got an email from them with just one word in it "yes", so i guess they do have a bolt on for G35C, however not a very comprehensive answer from Decah

stop posting here, your making yourself look like a fool.

like we havn't have someone type that a million times already.... why don't you start your own thread about whether or not they are rice and if vertical doors are exclusive for lambos or not, as stated already this is not an opinion thread. this is a fact finder for people interested in doing the mod.

Hi, I am new to the board...although the lambo doors are a nice mod if you have the money and time to spend on it..keep in mind no matter what the kit..there will be slight issues...i have an 04 coupe..I bought the Gt Factory kit..i stayed away from the deluxe..when you motorize with door poppers, there may be a good chance of a malfunction...all Gt factory kits are weld...i would go with weld on because bolt on may be cheaper on the pockets as far as install goes but the doors wont be sturdy..meaning after some use the doors will start loosening and the doors when they close wont line up..you will have to jiggle the door then slam it to close it..not what most people want to do..with a weld kit..the structural integrity is not compromised as much....once installed properly you should have a lifetime of use on the doors..okay here are so things to keep in mind...I went Gt factory because the hinges are of the highest grade and the reviews are great...the kit cost me $1050 shipped..although Gt factory says there is perfect fitment on their hinges..that is not the case..no lambo door hinges are perfect.but Gt factory comes close to it..the shocks that come with the kit are 20lb shocks...this is not good enough to support our doors..with the shocks they provide the doors swing too easily.like the shocks may give way any second....Gt factory does offer 60lb upgraded shocks that cost $65 a piece...i had to do it because my body shop said that he didnt think the doors had enough tension...next there is an A pillar issue..the door will rub on that...no matter what you do you cant get the full 90 degrees they say..you can get about 75 to 80 which is still good..any higher and then you would have to stretch alot to reach your doors to pull them down...also you have to cut into the frame of the car to recess the hinge kit, but where the hinge arm that extends meets the fender it does rub it a little from the inside..basically when you lift the doors open the fender will be pushed out just a tad bit...nothing bad though..it wont hurt the car or make the paint spiderweb by the fender moving in and out...lastly the hinge facing had to be grinded down a little to make sure it didnt push up against the fender and make it the fender stick out...I have attached the link to the GT factory install...of course since it is a weld kit..do the work with someone that has done these kits before..they have to be precisely cut it and welded..do not leave it for beginners...this is for expert installers only..when people start skimping on the labor cost and the bolt on kits...they tend to regret it later..of course both kits will be as close to perfect as possible in the beginning but use after use...the hinges wont maintain their strength and be secure with a bolt on...weld offer added safety from door misalignment or it coming down with heavy force...keep in mind our doors weigh like 300lbs...something not to take lightly...this mod is for the serious of enthusiasts...save up a little more and get the weld kit...i got mine installed for $600 per door in New York..not sure how much price will vary from state to state...its worth it with the gt factory because it opens up about 16"s to get out of the car normally and then also can open up lambo style for those showstopper moments...dont shy away from them...there will always be minor issues but all in all its a great mod and I love it...

sorry this was a long post but i just wanted to share my experiences with a particular kit..not sure why some kits are so expensive...they are same mechanism..who knows...this is just my opinion...others will say the same of their hinges..either way..have a pro install them...good luck!

Thanks again guys.

04Gwhiz - Do you have a camera? can you get pics of

(1) What 16"s of sideways opening looks like
(2) The cuts in the frame to recess the door hinge
(3) The pushed out / rolled fender
(4) The welded on hinge
(4) Part of the hinge you had to grind down
(5) Anything else they modified

Did they also need to install a wire extension loom?

Cheers, Mike.
