weird smell when a/c ON
hi guys,
We got a lot of rain not too long ago and my street got flooded, my car was parked on the street and when i looked out the window, im pretty 1/2 to 3/4 of my rims were covered in water. Not sure if this has anything to do with this weird smell but the water soaked thru into the back seat, the mats were all wet, water didnt get to the seats though.
Now when i turn on the a/c it works fine but theres a weird smell that comes with it, kinda smells like wet clothes or something.. What do you guys think it is? Could it be that the cabin filter got wet or something??

You still have moisture inside your car probably under the cushions and carpet.
If i were you i would tear apart the whole interior and use one of those industrial Wet-Vacs to vacuum out any moisture and then use one of those Rug shampoo machines after you have left the car in the sun with no interior for a day or 2 so whatever little dampness is left is dissipitated(open a box of Baking soda in there for good measure to absorb some of the bad smell). After shampooing the interior and leaving it for most of the day in the sun put your interior back in and you should be good.

Sounds like mold to me. This also happens when you have A/C on for a good amount of time and then suddenly turn off the car. Once you're car is on and the A/C is running again, you will probably have the same smell that you have described. Usually when I have my A/C on for a long time, I turn the A/C off and just have the fan blowing for about a minute before turning the car off. If I don't do that before turning the car off I will get that moldy smell similar to yours.

Once I saw that you said there was water in the car all the way up to the back seat.
I don't know about but im a clean freak when it comes to my G. I will go the extra 100 miles to get my car back to stock or better.
So if i was in your situation I would do exactly what I posted but thats just me
