I showed my dealership as well and they said they seen it and dont know what causes it and they just replace it free no questions asked.

i smoke in my car and mine isnt doin that. maybe u guys should start smoking... but seriously, seems like an electrical issue. has anyone put a meter on the cig lighter and checked to see if theres too much power going to it? seems like something is overheating in there and causing smoke to come out of it. but very slowly...(over the years). do u guys have high mileage? spend alot of time in your cars? i dont drive my car that much so my wiring may not have the time to heat up that much. if enough people bring their cars to the dealer and complain about this they will find the problem and recall it. dont let them just replace the panel.. its obviously not fixing the problem, just covering it up... u guys have nav? aftermarket stereo? something aint right...

I'm 06/AT with 44k. Only had the car 6 months, but my purchase day pics don't show it so it's happened recently. It was a Phoenix car, now Tucson, so hot in summer. I can feel it just a little warm after driving in that area. Only use alum cleaner on alum surfaces.

My sensing is electrical though as well.

I noticed 9 out or 10 2006 sedans have the exact same problem when I was car shopping the past few weeks. Not just one dealership but 3 that I went to around Phoenix area. One of the sales guy asked the service mgr and was told that they will replace the trim for free as long as it is under warranty. But no answer as to why it is happening.

Same problem here... non-smoker.. 2006 AT 22k miles.

Noticed it when replacing the trim with doubledin. Figured the previous owner was a smoker until seeing this....

Noticed it's happening to mine as well and on monday I couldn't fill my tank past half full. Atleast I can get two things taken care of in one trip. This on a 06 AT sedan.
