Rear view Mirror diagram
Rear view Mirror diagram
Hi, I been having rear view mirror rattles and my dealer can't fix it. Brought in two times already, even had Nissan technician came, no help. I am thinking of fixing it my self. I need a "blow out"? diagram of the rear view mirror. Anyone have this? Thanks.
Re: Rear view Mirror diagram
no "blow out diagram" but i have heard of some people having the entire mirror replaced due to rattles. I believe there is an old and a new (more solid) version of the mirror. good luck.

My rearview mirror also rattles. I found that it is the connector that connects to to the rear of the mirror.
Try this: Next time it rattles, take your hand and hold the Plastic and the set of wires that plug into your mirror. You will see that the rattling noise will go away. Maybe some tape or something jammed into the excess space will make it stop rattling. Hope this helps.

Well mine "rattled" but I took care of that. It wasn't so much the power cord to it, but the buttons themselves. I'd squeeze on the mirror housing and the rattle would stop. I fixed that by taking off the mirrir and carefully popping the plastic mirror housing apart then placing a small dab of silicone on the base of each buttons backside in a way that it didn't contact the electronics. I reassembled it and its not made one peep since.

Oh its very easy. I did this entire thing in about 15 minutes. You'll need a Torx screwdriver (forgot what size exactly) to remove the mirror from the window. Unplug the electrical connection, then look closely at how the electrical connection fits behind the trim pieces that hide it. (two plastic strips that hide the wire as it goes into the headliner). After that, just use something that will not blimish but that can fit between the two halves of the mirror housing to separate them. Once you get the two halves apart, you can shake the half with the buttons and you'll be able to tell that it was causing rattles. The rest is straightforward. I just babbed a little cotton swab into some silicone then smeared it thinnly onto the bottom of each of those buttons. You don't need much silicone at all. I noticed results right away.
